I drove to work this morning and there was a Tacoma owner broken down in the middle of the road next to the office. So, I parked my truck in the lot where I usually do, told work I'd be right back, and went out to see if I could help the guy out. The truck's front passenger side was down on the street. When I had a closer look, the passenger cv axle somehow came out of the front diff and the upper ball joint separated from the spindle. Nasty business. Turns out that our kids went to kindergarten together....small world, err...town. Anyways, I directed traffic so he could focus on his phone call to AAA. Eventually his buddy pulled up behind his truck and took over so I could get back to work. I feel pretty bad for the guy....what a bad time for that to happen, right before Christmas. Then again, he was very lucky that it didn't happen on his drive from the valley( 101 South). I can't imagine he would been without injury if whatever failed on his truck happened going like 70mph. Nice guy...I hope all works out for him

yes, that's what I'm talking about.

Side note: It's supposed to rain tomorrow! That means they'll close the Romero Camuesa gate to Pendola for who knows how long. :annoyed:

To those talking about refugio road I was up the solvang side about a month ago and it had a road closed sign .Was definitely tempted to just move the sign and see what was back there but didn't. But needless to say I have driven that road a few times before it was closed and it really isn't too exciting. It's kinda just a wash board road that gets tight in a few places and has 1 medium size puddle after a good rain not the sprinkles we have been having recently . If Ur in solvang definitely a nicer way to get up to west camino but imo not worth it to drive out that way if Ur trying to get back to Santa Barbara

Lets do it! I'm free Sunday till pretty much christmas! Just got back from camping at Jamala last night with the GF. Really pretty out there and only a handful of people camping. Only one other truck (tacoma too) was even in our little section, just some RV's up top!
    I'll post pics later

Sounds good man! If we get it done early, possibly a quick run up West Camino?

We're so down! It was cold, but manageable. Campfire definitely helped, plus tuck was a good little space heater. Poor guy was a cold though. We kept wrapping him up in a towel and blanket but was skwermy until we finally threw him in the back truck under the nice blanket. At first he was kinda upset because we were outside and he was sitting up there but I think he quickly realized how warm it was and took fell asleep.

Have you been up there recently? I heard it was closed due to the road being washed out.

I work in Atascadero and live in SLO so I will take the stagecoach Road and have seen the closure sign up. I'm doing the ride tomorrow so I'll confirm if it's still closed. Have you done the pozo to Lopez drive? That's a good one!

I've been there in January when it's raining and 45 degrees. And a week later I was there and it was sunny and 75. We even swam.
