Found some poppies on Fig Mtn Saturday. That place was a freaking zoo though! There were probably 100 cars at the lower trailhead.

    Let me know my friend.

You guys think a 2ft will be fine on my roof or should I go to 3? I don't want it too tall to hit trees above and stuff.

Two's probably fine. Im no expert but I think the point of a tall stik is to get as much of the stik above a certain ground plane.
Since its on the roof already two should be fine I think.
Like I said no CB expert haha
theres also something to do with a 108" antenna length and stuff...

So, will a 4ft. Firestik work with both CB & HAM?

pretty sure its two different antennas there. Different frequencies so different length antennas (the actual physical receptor of the transmition waves is a wire wrapped around a 2, 3, 4 etc foot fiberglass rod)

Ahh, gotcha. Thanks for clarifying Micah. Guess I'll have to decide on HAM or CB first..

cb- easy, no test/license, cheap, more common for everydayness, but poor reception
ham- radios can get expensive, you have to at least (or you should) get your license, but way better reception, and depending on your set up you can talk to anyone pretty much in the world.
    I have- cb
I really really really want- ham

If you could get a HAM, what Make & Model would you get and why?

    ooo a toughy..

I was thinking about this one: http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-010078
Its a little cheaper but powerful, and seems to get good reviews. Also lets you connect over the internet which is nice. Also has emergency weather channels. But its only one band, not dual.
Best person to ask is Timmy! He is the resident 805 ham man
