OK so why do u think you wouldn't be able to use an impact on your lug nuts? U realize as techs don't just sit there hammering the lug nuts on they use a gun just to snug up the lug nuts then torque them with a torque wrench. I'm not completely familiar with second gens but I'm going to assume you have an automatic? Don't the second gens have a sealed trans that u can't check the fluid level? Could be wrong on this. Also my guess as to why they didn't check the transfer case and differentials is that it isn't on the list of things to check on a 20k service and the service writer probably forgot to add it to the repair order . Brake pads I'll agree with you on. Rotating in the spare in is a very very uncommon practice and I personally think is a bit overkill because you will always have one tire that doesn't have the same wear as the others possibly causing a pull . And no they wouldn't balance the tire before rotating it in . Do they balance all 4 every time you rotate? No. So why would you expect them to balance the spare. It's assumed that it was balanced when mounted. And taking 40 min to rotate a tire. Well you came back and the techs were probably busy working on other cars that had to be done as well and it probably just took them time to get a tech free to work on your vehicle .

Make sure you explain all this when you go back in!

This is why I only get my oil changed there (only because I got a shit ton for free when I bought the truck) I don't even let them look at anything else. Shit, they can even rotate my tires cause they don't have the OEM lug nut tool for my lugs. How fucked is that!? They're TOYOTA lug nuts! o_O

    I feel your pain man!

Doesn't matter. If he said to check and they agreed then it should have been done. They can check all of those fluids.to send it off without the tires properly balanced is retarded. Also I would be pissed that they listened to NONE of his requests

Yeah Trans is sealed. Which was weird when I first found out. I don't recall checking any of those fluids on the standard 20k service either....

I stopped trusting them after they lost a lug and tried to blame me, and left this in aftet an oil change:

Well if you were going to swap on a spare would you assume it's balanced or unbalanced. And I agree it's unfortunate that the fluids didn't get checked. The service writer was probably busy just like we all get busy and forgot to add it on to the repair order . Basically the missed services comes down to the service writer

Splined/locking lugs. Not sure what they are technically called, but they are straight from the factory. Its just weird they don't have the tools for Toyota parts :notsure:

Ya that happens from time to time forgetting the containers . At least they were trying to keep your engine bay clean instead of just letting it just fall all over the place . It comes down to the fact that the dealerships do see a very high volume of cars every day and they are constantly rushings techs to get cars in and out to try to accommodate the volume.

Are they all the same lug nuts or is there just one that is different than the others? If it's just the one then it's kinda understandable. That's a wheel lock. They all have a unique key and who knows how many different patterns there are so kinda hard for them to keep every pattern and then go through all those patterns to figure out which is your?

I understand that, and that's why I always keep it simple for them. But still....that's not really an excuse.

Does your buddy still work there? I always see his runner there.

No its a standard yota part. One is keyed and all others are splined. It's funny, the same time they lost a lug Shawn lost the tool I let him borrow. So he had to buy a full set. They ended up giving me a replacement lug from the full set Shawn bought. So in reality, I still got jipped a lug nut

Don't u have the tool yourself to be able to remove the tire? Or have u just not been rotating your tire?
Ya he still works there .He's a line tech now. Actually have a few friends that work there .And let me tell you they are the happiest there either. It's all the owners and managers mind set there that's makes a lot of the techs unhappy

Of course I have the tool! Haha. They always had to borrow it to rotate my tires! Of course I rotate my tires. After the 2nd time they asked where my tool was to take the tires off I've always told them not to touch them. It's funny too, cause they still call me every time asking where my tool is to rotate my tires and I still have to tell them it's not needed. Again, it comes down to the fact that they don't listen or put it on the paperwork. Haha

Ya I'll tell u it's not just you .It is common practice to use to customers wheel lock. It would be like expecting them to have the key to your ignition .Could they have one of the who knows how many combinations sure but is it feesable

That was my point, they aren't special. They are an off the shelf tool that is made and supplied by Toyota. You could call them right now and order them, and they'd work on my lugs. Which is why it's insane that they don't have them.
