    Dang, that's a bummer!
How'd I know you would be the one to chime in with answers.. heh
    I appreciate the heads up!
I'm looking for a spot I can do a 1 night camping trip locally or semi locally with my bro. Ideally, we'd be able to hike into the spot as neither one of us are really into car camping unless absolutely nesessary. Having a destination with water would be ideal. Thinking about heading out later Sunday afternoon and returning Monday early afternoon. Not too much time but, trying to make the most of it. Any ideas?

I thought about possibly heading back that way but unfortunately I haven't explored that much back there and so I'm not too sure where to go. If you have any recommendations, I'm all ears. I'm going to try to iron the plan out today so, I'll look online see what I can find.

Hey, sorry, I was in LA all weekend, but unfortunately, I think a place with water would have been hard to find, especially this time of year. Where'd you go?

My bro & I ended up packing in one night on the Lower Manzana Trail. 3 miles in and found a little water and some wildlife.

Saw a decent sized king snake amongst other stuff.

Didn't the hot springs back there get privatized now?

Hey fellas, curious if anyone has been out to Alabama Hills and if so what was the impression and opinion? Trying to expand my horizons as I always wind up at Shaver Lake, Nacimiento, Pozo, Big Sur (not this year...), and Oceano (which is far from fun) -- Pretty much just need new spots with lots of adventure and exploration ahead (Preferably with tame options for the wife and daughter which typically involves waterways of some sort for them to chill @, but not overall tame)

I've been to the Alabama Hills a couple times. They're pretty cool to check out if you've never seen them in person. It's going to be very hot out there though!
Personally, I wouldn't make going there a family trip. I'll try to come up with a couple ideas...

On second thought, maybe it's better if some other members chime in...they get up that way a lot more than I do these days.

Definitely good looking out, didn't really think into that tidbit too much I just saw endless possibilities behind the wheel in quite impressive photos. And totally understandable, I'm not opposed to further down south I just don't know of ANYTHING between Pismo and Barstow (Grew up down around the High Desert and ran as fast as I could as soon as I could)

Eastern sierras are full of great trails! Alabama hills is cool and the views are amazing of Whitney and such, but it's a bunch of boulders, but go up to mazourka peak out of Independence and there's a huge network of trails in the Inyos. Also out of Bishop there's a bunch of fun trails, and there's always Laurel lakes trail. Also out of Bridgeport there's so many places to explore! Get yourself a book and hit the dirt!

Kennedy meadows, Monache Meadows, Coyote Flat, Sand Canyon and Laurel Lakes are all fun areas!

Anyone on here know the guy on the mesa with the silver 2nd gen with TC lowers? 2wd? Guy almost hit me while pulling into my driveway on my motorcycle, then flips me off o_O - would love to have a word about tailgating motorcycles...

Pretty sure he lives in IV. I used to see a second gen like that all the time when I lived there. Could be a different rig

Speaking of which - I'm on the prowl for a new bike. I'll likely be buying in July. If anyone sees a WR250R or street legal WR250X let me know. Or a nice big touring bike at a good price. I think I need two bikes :bananadance:since the gf and I broke up.
