No, you definitely can hit that. That was the first "trail" I ever did in my stock truck. (Unless there are some new weather born obsticles that I don't know of)

It’s not super rocky up there for the most part so you’ll be fine. My experience has been that any trail in Gorman that you have second thoughts about usually has enough of a warning where you can turn around comfortably. Most trails are loops there too so you’ll always end up somewhere familiar.
    When you planning on going?

Oi, I have a white tailgate for sale. $600 OBO. Has a minor scuff in the paint from storage, otherwise it is in perfect condition with everything on it to be functional.
Also, have 6ft bed rail caps. $20 for the set They're in good condition if you're looking to replace yours.

It's way better than CA for me. Depends on what you're looking for though. Boulder/Denver area was amazing. Tons of places to wheel, non extreme seasonal changes, and lots of food/craft beer to be had. I live up in Leadville while in school though. Being at 10,200ft with a town population of 2,600 can be brutal in the winter. You thinking of heading that way?

Sounds pretty nice. Well, I’m slowly growing tired of certain aspects of CA and thinking about where it would be affordable to retire. I’d like to own some land as well. The general feeling I’ve been having is I’m not too interested in working my tail off for most of my life only to barely be able to retire and if I’m lucky, afford a condo in the area. So, I’m exploring other options. I have not totally given up on staying in CA yet but, I’m trying to view things realistically.

All that being said, I need a vacation. lol

I hear that. Going to drive out to Nova Scotia next month. Really looking forward to hitting Bend, OR as it’s a place I may move to next. I can’t deal with living in Southern CA anymore haha. Only here because it’s where I grew up and an easy transition spot.

All the way to the northeast huh
I have not been to Nova Scotia but have memories of the Northeast. It’s different.
Hey, Southern California has a lot of nice places to grow up...you’re fortunate. There are worse places to grow up & raise kids for sure. And don’t get me wrong, I like CA....it’s just the prices are tough and I don’t get out enough. I know there are going to be pros & cons to every place I reside and do my best to keep positive. I do enjoy less crowds, traffic, etc. So, typically when I leave SB(which is certainly growing) I head North. Like I said earlier, I think I’m needing a vacation. I’m past due. I hope you enjoy your trip to Nova Scotia...sounds fun!

Anyone got any plans to hit up Gorman or Rowher on 4th if July for a day trip?

As far as Pronghorn.. any stock truck should be able to make it through. Just have a spotter for that gnarly downhill. If not you can just turn around and take the trail back to the picnic areas. Was able to complete it my first time ever off-roading a stock Tacoma.

And to the SD guy sorry I missed you man I live in Santa Paula. I would have gone with you :(

From my experience, a holiday weekend at Gorman can be fun, but hazardous. I can almost guarantee you'll meet a careless dirt bike, SxS or quad rider at blind corners or cresting hills.

There is a Gorman trip planned for July 13th, follow this link in the TW "Monthly So Cal Off-Road Run"
    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1O4RfBTxcQG5TavdVMYJqktMz3i-PZyEmnjZJCO8Lgn8/edit?usp=sharing

I would be happy to try Pronghorn with you then.

Yup, your $30K plus truck vs a $500 piece of crap, head-on....not a good way to spend the weekend. You both walk away, but your stuck with the repairs, while they apply duct tape and continue having fun.

Granted, that can happen on any weekend out there. But, it is more likely on a busy holiday weekend.

Gorman is the only place I've had a head on in my 20 years of riding 2 wheels. Id hate for it to be in a vehicle.

Hey all, long time since I've been on this forum. Quite a number of new names on here. And how in the shit did Jason become a mod?

In any rate - anybody want a big air compressor? I have a 60gallon ingersoll rand t30 (5hp 240v 1 phase two stage) that I'm considering offloading for a bro deal to clear out some shop space. PM me! Also open to trades for professional grade woodworking tools.

Oh and I drove west for the first time in years a couple weeks ago. It was surprising to see how many of the fences were knocked down for all of the old offshoots. Guess the FS no longer cares. Not that that justifies "off trail" stuff but I digress... it was a nice day and if I could figure out how to attach pictures I would...
