My 18 yr old son is looking for a Toyota truck. He'll have some money to put into it over time but can only sink about $7K-10K into his original purchase.

Any suggestions of where he might find a starter truck in this price range?

    I'm thinking he's looking at a 1st Gen (late 90s).

He's a surfer/musician looking for something to haul gear and surfboards.

Any suggestions of particular things to look for or avoid (models/years with known problems, stuff that fails at x miles on a 1st gen, etc) beyond the normal used car purchase considerations?

What's typical drivetrain life on a 1st gen?

Hey SB guys. Anyone here have dogs/ can have dogs live at their place? I'm trying to get one but management here won't allow it. All I need is a fake house I can used to get the adoption agency to clear it and say its ok for us to have the dog. My place if suitable for a dog but managment would tell the agency no. So I'm going behind their back like everyone else has done here. My question is does anyone have a place a can pretend to use for a day? If so if thrown in a 30 rack or whatever suits you. Let me know if anyone can help. Thanks guys.

Anybody need a set of McNeil bedsides? I was shipped a pair but didn't order them. I did the right thing and let the company know and he wants to get them shipped back (seems foolish because he's losing money) but he said if I could find a buyer for $300 and give him the money it would help him out and it would clear my conscience.
