    Odd question...

If I don't want to put more preload on the drivers side Icon coilover, what can I use to offset that "Taco Lean"?

You guys think I should tell him to look into pre gen1s too or stick with gen1? He's looking for more of a mountain/trail rig than a desert/pismo rig.

Move the battery to the passenger side and a replace your gas tank with a centered fuel cell.

do this...much easier and more cost effective than adjusting the preload :p

    hahaha

I don't know if he wants sfa or not, gonna talk more with him soon.

Theo I would get the COs on then see if it leans. I've read in the suspension section that the new coilovers may get rid of an existing lean.

:notsure: i ran compressor air in all the shocks, pumped in without a prefilter a few blocks from the ocean for almost a year. somehow i didn't have any problems with any rust or the like... :p :poking:
now i run nitro because i can.. but anyways id be concerned with the 4x4 system since it sits so much.
sounds like the guy should look for a solid axle though if he's not into the whole going fast thing anyways. i saved a ton of money by selling my build and buying one that was farther along for the same price. i looked at it through a microscope, compression testing and the whole 9 yards. sure there were a few things i found that i fixed myself, but saving thousands in parts alone worked well for me.

I guess I'm just being too fussy. I saw a guy selling his Icons on TW and he had a small top plate spacer on the drivers side "to correct the taco lean". I know some people who run the full OME setup install a Trim Packer on the drivers side...

I just wanted to do it right the first time around and not have to tinker with stuff for weeks after after the initial install due to me not doing my research is all.

Just add preload. That's what the adjustable collar is for. I'm not understanding the "tinkering." You put the coils on, adjust both sides to the ride height you want and you're done. :notsure:

Adding a top plate spacer is just going to push the whole coilover down (which will in turn reduce uptravel while adding downtravel (not good considering icon's are limited to prevent overtravel). OME trim packer effectively does the same thing as adding preload to a coilover...it preloads the coil.

I took a measurement and my driver side is about 1/2" higher, which is my own fault, I did it with an empty gas tank and was hoping it would settle with driver weight + full tank.

coilovers are adjustable for a reason....

would be stupid to add a spacer

Yes...that would make it even worse. Extended travel shocks just have a shorter shaft spacer inside the shock that allows the shaft to droop farther out. They are also intended only for aftermarket UCA's as the factory UBJ will max out and bind on droop if used with extended travel shocks. Adding a top plate spacer would push the entire thing down even farther.

    Just adjust the coilovers.
