We had the pleasure of meeting Darin at the 1st ever TrailsonTap805 group event hosted by MadeWest Beer in Ventura last month.

During initial conversations we noted that he had made some progress on his build and was using a Pedal Commander to help address the typical non responsive throttle issues associated with these vehicles.

With the Pedal Commander removed, we dialed his vehicle in with a KDMAX Pro tune and the Sport Throttle option, knowing that this is the Complete Solution!

After his test drive, he came back and said with a big KDMAX grin:

805 Tacoma Tuning hooked up with Jared from the Ojai Valley area and his 2018 Tacoma the other night. He wanted to get his truck tuned up before his upcoming hunting trip, and we were ready for him!

Jared came to us looking to improve the performance of his and his wife’s Tacoma. He was very knowledgeable and aware of the improvements that tuning is capable of providing.

Tom, Muchas gracias for the top service last night. Wicked service, and the reason I went with Tom and KDMP. I liked what I heard on the phone. I don’t care much for the tuning wars going around here. As a matter of fact, I have been hesitant for years on a tune. Well, Im glad I did it as I genuinely wanted to say that I feel the 3.5’s 1st and 2nd gears remind me of a GM Powerglide.

On the test drive, from a dead stop, it rolled up to 7K (and a bit more I believe) in 1st and 6200 in 2nd. Man, it felt like I was driving my brother’s 67 deuce that has a Powerglide transmission. When I saw the red limiter past 7500 I was expecting the engine to shut off and make a loud “swoosh” sound as I’ve had that happen to me when I tried S mode and this dumb ass forgot to change to 2nd gear. Not a chance. Smooth rev and I felt it wasn’t jumpy at all.

Good power delivery throughout the band. 278 ponies is a lot. Shoot 1980’s IROC had less for a V8 and that was a quick car. The Taco’s stock 1st gear WOT lag from a launch is gone. The cruise up the 27 back home was much better. Even though I felt the updated tune worked well climbing back into the canyon.

Im calling their 10.0 tune The Powerglide. Good stuff and thank you for the drivability Tom!!!!!!!!

Hear hear Tom much the same. Looking forward to the drive right now, although I didn’t get much sleep. Instead of counting sheep, I heard the KDMP’s 3.5’s engine roar from 1st to 2nd over and over again.

What is the difference between your tune and one from the OTT network? The tailored tuner network.

 

I personally feel that you would be well suited working together with any of the network tuning groups.

To say one is better than the other is a matter of personal preference as we are trying to achieve similar targets and goals. The overall goal amongst the different groups is to achieve improved drivability along with enhanced performance.

In my opinion that is exactly what KDMAX does, and does very well.

The tunes are just that good overall when compared to stock in general.

At the end of the day it boils down to customer support and service. I feel that KDMAX customer service, support and representation is the best in business.

Afterall, we are the Original Drivability Tune.

Tom, KDMP, impressed hometowns!

We gassed up at Frazier Park, tripped, and cruised around through Lockwood Valley, taking breaks exploring the trials that were not closed down to the 33 for a quick stop at the Santa Barbara Pistachio Co. for some pillows, then on to the 133, and back up towards Pine Mountain Club. Everything was done from giving it the beans to let the ECU know what I need as we were climbing about, to 4WD engagement, to coasting on the small stretches on the way back down to L.A. Then it was a quick drive to Simi Valley for some sandwiches, chili fries with extra cheese, and them onion rings from The Hat. For those of you that have cruised this area, you know what’s involved.

Good stuff. It should only get better. But at the moment, it’s on par with stock numbers, only with much much better performing revolutions. No gear hunting.

As it goes, Brian found one of our business cards placed on his vehicle. Luckily, a previous customer heard about this and advised Brian that 805 Tacoma Tuning is the real deal and to reach out asap.

Otherwise, that card may have just ended up in the land of abandoned business cards if you ask Brian

Thankfully, Brian reached out! We decided to set him up with KDMAX Pro 10 set with our Sport throttle setting due to some additional weight and larger tires that he has added to the vehicle.

Seems like a perfect fit. After his test drive, he said the truck performed awesome and shifted great. He even compared it to the operation and performance of a Powerglide transmission. The 2nd reference to this in a week by separate individuals.

Can you post a dyno chart on your Tundra tune before and after? Thanks!

 

We currently do not have a Tundra specific Dyno sheet.

I would be happy to set you up and let you be the judge and dyno for yourself though.

There is nothing better at the end of the day than trying it out for yourself to ultimately see what you think.

If you are not satisfied with the results I would have no issues refunding you. ***Minus the pre purchased cost of credits to license the vehicle on my end***

805 Tacoma Tuning and a Santa Barbara customer were finally able to tie the knot.

Nate, aka @4r.nate, on Instagram hit us up yesterday afternoon when he identified a last-minute opportunity that worked well for him to stop by and get his built 2012 4Runner dialed in with a KDMAX Pro tune.

It worked out well for us as well, so we told him to come on by. Due to his current and future build plans, we decided to set him up with our Sport throttle option and sent him out for his test drive.

Upon return, we observed his fiancé had commandeered the drivers seat and claimed the vehicle as her own!

Needless to say, they both loved the way the vehicle now performs.

We enjoyed working together with them.
