LOL.. I would seriously get my ass kicked by the boss if I even hinted at spending $81K on a truck.

Does anyone else think that Tacoma Modding is so hot because the truck is just “ok” coming from the factory? Don’t get me wrong, I love Toyota’s, but my 2012 Tundra was great from the factory. In 8 years I added a tonneau cover and TRD rims, that’s it. My 99 Cherokee was the best vehicle I’ve ever owned and I never added a thing to it. I’ve had my 2018 Tacoma Limited for a year now and when people ask me how it is I say “it’s ok” because that’s what it is. It doesn’t do anything wrong or anything particularly well. It definitely has minor short comings that baffle me and the build quality is definitely a notch below my old Tundra and my wife’s 4Runner. I think these trucks are just OK and people spend a ton of money trying to make them better. Just my two cents

For me, this isn't accurate. I love this truck so much that I want to do cool shit to it. Not because it really needs it, but because I want to.

The vast majority of Tacomas don't get modded. The "hotness" is from posing for social media clout.

It's not a real mod unless it has metal

Good point. I do think a lot of those are from people trading in their trucks.

I don't think mods add value for every buyer. Some buyers want them, some don't. It all depends on the seller and the buyer. If sellers want to give mods away for free that's on them and very dumb and you see it a lot.

On this case there's no way I'd every pay 81k for this truck. Way overpriced!

You didn't have the internet to tell you your old vehicles were not ok.

I'd buy a 2021 brand new '99 Cherokee in a heartbeat if it wasn't "teched" to death. The '99-'01 years were the best. Fuck I wish someone made a simple, decent quality, versatile, inexpensive, 4X4 vehicle. Makes me wonder what happened to all the brainiacs in car design.

You think retro muscle cars are great ideas? Give me a retro Cherokee that's true to what Cherokee really was.

It’s actually a 4x4, you can see the manual lever and the rear mudflaps.

Well, we start at $50k, because its a $47k (the avg I see pros go for NEW) and its in high demand. Let's be generous, $52k. Then, you fucking ruined it and turned it into a 4Runner, -$2K cus its gonna cost me money to get rid of all of that/fix whatever holes may have been drilled on there, $50K. You put a super charger on there which while may not be a concern for you, but IDK what shop installed it, and I don't trust it. $45K, and if you want to take it off and mess with the engine again we're going down to $40k, again, I don't trust your garage beer mechanic ability. All the other stuff I could careless about.

Listen, its a great $38K truck that you could probably sell for $50K to some sucker in this inflated market, but asking $80K for it?

Well, factor in the inflation for the price of the mods too....then you'll see how it got to $81k

It's not just an eighty one thousand dollar truck, by the time you factor in:

Shipping / transport if you don't live local
Tax, title and license for the transfer
and gap insurance if you don't put enough down, I venture to say a bank gives zero fucks about the upgrades.

In the end this will be a $86,000 truck with the trifecta of the money you don't know you're yet spending.

So if you had $86k to smoke on a vehicle all inclusive would it be this truck? I know people love their 3rd gens, but that kind of money and it would still get lost in a parking lot, no thanks.
