A little pre clean on the engine. Valley cover lift plate is supposed to be here on Monday so i can set the engine into the truck. I hope to have it and the trans mocked up in there this week but gotta see how work goes.

Tcase installed and started on the cab wiring. Pistons and valves are in so hopefully the motor will be done next week!

Separated all the wiring for the swap into different harnesses and ran them to where they go. Also got the throttle control module mounted up behind the dash and found a spot to mount my aux fuse panel. Slowly getting it all out back together. The existing wiring in the truck has been a nightmare to deal with, previous owner had a lot of accessories installed on it it looks like. Cleaning all that up also.

Built a spacer and reworked the gas pedal mount a little to be able to mount the aux fuse panel on it. Also shortened the tcase linkage and got it installed.

Haven’t had much time to work on the truck much this week. Got the power steering lines made up and the trans dipstick in. Engine oil dipstick seems to have broken while in storage so I’m gonna try to weld that up tomorrow and fix it. If not try to find another one. I tried using the factory hard lines for the trans cooler but they were a huge pain to get routed and hooked up so gonna go a different route there.

Got the fuel lines hooked up last night so fuel system is completely done. Also got the new water pump and thermostat installed. Welding the dipstick tube didn’t work to well but autozone actually had one in stock so I ran and got that. Cleaned up some parts and started messing with the original wiring

Welp got the truck wired in and mostly completed and went to prime the engine before I started it and… no oil pressure. Check it with a gauge off the side of the block and cranked and cranked on it and nothing. Ended up tearing the motor back out and checking to see if the barbell in the back of the block got forgotten and it was there. Popped the oil pan off and checked the o ring on the pickup tube and it was good. Blew air through all the oil passages and they were all clear. None of the oil was making it past the pump even after priming the pump through an oil port so slapped a new pump on it and put everything back together. Hopefully I’ll be able to get the motor back in tomorrow and get back to where I was a week ago.

11 months in the making and she runs!! Still got a bunch to finish up and make look pretty but it fires with the key! Got lots of oil pressure now after replacing the brand new pump with another one. Kinda a headache but worth it now.

Exhaust is done and got the air intake good enough for now. I’ve been having some fueling issues, getting 70 psi up at the fuel rail instead of the 55-58 that the Ls engines like to see. Ended up fouling out all my plugs and making the pcm go into limp mode because of the to high of pressure. Should be just a bad pressure regulator (another brand new part that’s bad out of the box). New one should be here this week under warranty. Sucks how even when you spend the money and buy good parts you still end up with faulty ones. Hopefully with the new regulator installed and a new set of plugs she will be highway ready! Exhaust sounds good! It’s got 2.5” true dual exhaust with 40 series and speed engineering headers. It’s actually quieter than the old 305 that was in it. Can’t wait to get it on the road.
