My TRD supercharger on my 2.7 4cyl requires 91 octane

I think all all boosted applications require higher octane...some are tuned to "work" on less but won't run as well. But yeah our Tacomas with superchargers will run dangerously lean on anything under 91

I wish I had a intercooler with an ice tank for my 4cyl . I know my IAT's are crazy hot when climbing the 5k ft cajon pass

Yah my 3.4 supercharger doesn't have an intercooler either...the intake temps get pretty crazy hot in the summer here in socal and it definitley effects the performance. I know some guys run meth setups pretty effectively for that though.

Speaking of having octane when you need it...a methanol injection setup would insure you've always got the octane level you need even if you can't find 91 for sale

Never ran a meth injection set up but if I could figure out an air/ ice water intercooler I would do that

I always laugh at the supercharged cars in the pits at the dragstrip and seeing bags of ice on the supercharger. All this does is cause stress cracks on the housing

I've done a mod or two
I've run the 100 and 110 and the truck likes it but without some tuning it really cant even make full use of it. Meth injection is better, you get 126oct equivalent (if you set the duty cycle that high) and around 100° of IAT drop

I've heard it's not good to run high octane race fuel in our trucks with superchargers but that's usually in reference to 108-110 octane...I guess it's too high and doesn't burn fast enough and causes the truck to run weird. But that 100 octane might be interesting to try. Let us know how it goes lol

So does the 100 run better than the 110 or about the same? I've never seen 100 around here

They're both more octane than the computer can really deal with, it doesn't understand that it can continue to up injector dwell and advance the ignition timing. But it runs better than 91 for sure. Any non timing related knock will go away unless it's stupid hot. Not really worth it, considering two tanks of the stuff will buy you a meth kit and you'll be way better off. You can tune the meth to the limit of the stock computer and have room to grow if you decide to do a real tune with an aftermarket computer later on.

    Arco is top tier gas?
    My list is:
    Chevron
    Shell
    76
    Mobil
    *Costco

I find myself getting a lot of 76 and Mobil a lot lately. Chevron for the bike or weekend car. Costco is only when it’s convenient, I wouldn’t go out of my way for it since you probably spend more. Sometimes the line at the Costco gas station is not worth it either, time is money.

My brother has a converter in his turbo car where he uses 85.

I'm running meth, tune, and building my own custom ice tank. I'm kind of a hp whore.

Yep, they've been advertising it for the past few years. They're on the official list too

Yeah, I simply refuse to go to Arco. They don’t take credit cards, at all. Debit has the stupid fee. Between military base gas, Costco, and sams club I see no reason to deal with their archaic and annoying business practices.

That's how they keep their gas cheap for the rest of us that don't have military base access or costco memberships (I do have a membership but they aren't close).

I don't understand what's so bad about a 35 cent flat fee...you get charged WAY more than that when you pay the "credit" per gallon price at any other station.

Its literally just a button you press yes to before you fill up lol. People do the same thing filling up at most other stations without actually agreeing to it, it's just already in the credit price and a lot higher to boot

You're right though they don't take credit cards which can be kind of annoying but I usually use my debit anyway for gas

Right, it’s just the principle of it. I hate extra fees, I’d much rather they added $.05/gallon to cover it with no extra fee. Also I never pay with debit cards or cash. Everything gets put on credit cards. Why not get free cash back, airline /hotel /travel points? I pay my balance every month so not getting any interest on the purchases. Also, if my credit card number gets stolen, not nearly the headache of having my debit card stolen. So not taking credit is a huge problem for me.

For example, I prefer European retail pricing where the advertised/displayed price includes all applicable taxes. Like hotel websites drive me batshit crazy. Hotel advertised price of $100/night, actual cost after taxes/fees/other fuckery $185/night. Just tell me the damn price up front.

That makes sense. I had my debit card compromised recently so I admit I've been thinking more about that issue...especially with how shitty my mpgs are and how often I have to fill up lol.

What bugs me though is that most any other place doesn't charge an extra .5c a gallon for credit anymore, they charge upwards of .20c or more pretty gallon which at ~15 gallons makes it way more expensive than .35c flat fee. But I do understand the no credit card rule being an issue. Hopefully they'll come around on that
