Many gas station are offering this lower price 88 unleaded /e85. Most 2016 and up can run the 88 unleaded /e85. , ( recommended not all the time)

The article mentions a approx loss of 5% mpg’s with the e85.

I have ran it an not seen a difference, but 5% of 17mpg isn't exactly a big number.

I have no scientific basis for my thoughts but here they are:
E products are simply real gasoline with added useless filler.
This filler is derived from corn which is acquired by farmers who receive government subsidies.

So you are paying for less real gas and probably getting 5% less mpg with it.

So with E85 you get 85% gas and 15% filler.
Therefore by adding in the additional 5% reduction in mpg ( if valid ) then one
could say you are paying 20% more for 20% less.

    Only in America ..

Reminds me of this native american saying:
"only a white man would believe you can cut a foot off the top
of a blanket, sew it on at the bottom, and have a longer blanket"

The tacoma can not run e85. Only flexfuel vehicles can run that.

The Tacoma can only run e15 or below. Preferable <e10.

UNL88/E15 is not the same as e85! I notice no fuel economy loss on E15.

By all means please put E85 in your truck, drive around for a few months, film your complete exploits, and put them on YouTube so that we can have them automatically attach to every past and future thread where someone mentions E85.

I now see what you mean. I meant to say vs 87 unleaded. I was trying to keep the title short. Sorry!

I'm still confused what OP is even asking. Is this not about ethanol at all?

Maybe the confusion is with the new e88 that is also called unleaded 88, yet is only supposed to be 15% ethanol?
"Unleaded 88, also known as E15, consists of 15% ethanol and 85% gasoline."
