I've been reading threads in the suspension section ever since i bought my truck back in December 2012 and I've read many different answers to my question. I want to do a 3" lift on my 2013 TRD Sport Access Cab. I've read both 884s with a 1/2" spacer and I've read 885s with a 1/2" spacer would both result in a 3" lift. I've also read where some people said only 884s with the spacer will work. Read a few post saying only 885s with the spacer will work. So which is it? I know about the Bilstein 5100 fully adjustables in the front and the regular ones in the rear and that I would need to buy a new leaf pack or just aal. My question for the leaf springs if i did aal would it be 1 1/2" or 2" also which is better aal or a whole new leaf pack? Toytec has everything I just want to make sure I'm ordering the right stuff because I'm currently stationed in Germany and I dont want to deal with the hassle of having to return stuff and waiting.

Front OME lift coils (do i need the 884s or the 885s?)

    Rear leaf options (1 1/2" or 2"?)

Thanks for anyone who helps. I'm just trying to fully understand and it seems like searching gives mixed answers and reviews. I don't offroad much except to get to the family cabin or to a couple of the rivers to swim, every now and then run some trails after a rain storm to get muddy.

Also with this 3" lift was is the biggest tire size i can run without rubbing and keeping my stock sport rims. I dont want to cut anything but I would remove the mud flaps if necessary.

    Thanks again.

I had these same questions and went with the Eibachs and 5100s. If you go with the OME i say still get some 285 tires and just cut the plastic. I cried about having to cut plastic and stuff for a while last year and once I broke down and did it it was a joke. So easy. Sorry cant answer your other question though, i often wonder about the 884 and 885 coils though too because there are so many different answers

just over 2.5" but im getting spacers to give me another 1/2" if I want them. I like the 2.5 look in my pic but i want a bit more clearance with the 3. I got the LR UCAs. Some say you dont need them but IMO you do. Unless your alignment is perfect then you will end up paying for them with tire wear anyways. I didnt cut any metal yet and it rarely scrapes. Just plastic. But Im going to be cutting the cab mount, because its pretty simple and sounds worse then it is. Theres a few good posts on here about it. Pretty simple and quick looking to keep yourself rub free.
Another note, why I chose the Eibachs is it gives you much more options. You can add spacers for a 3", keep a 2.5" like mine with the 5100s set at .85, or set them at 0 and have about a 1.75 lift and smooth suspension if you even decide. Just my opinion

one guy on here (i forget his name and wish i would have messaged him when i first saw his posts, he has a red access cab) said that he used the 885s with the 1/2" spacer and set his bilsteins at 0 and he has 3inches up front then he did aal to level it out in the rear.

is it even possible to leave the 5100s at 0 and still get lift?

yes. the OME coils are more lift then the Eibachs. Eibachs give like 1.6 " of lift, then I set the 5100s at .85, then the 1/2' spacer should be 3" easy, plus mine is a 4 cylinder so i have a bit less weight in the front. not 100% sure thats a big difference though

lol so true. When I initially purchased my lift 2 years ago everybody was saying 884s for double cab with no weight and 885s if you have trail armor and then 886s for winch and heavy duty shit. So I went with 884s. I took a leave of absence from here for grad school for a while and now everyone seems to be saying 885s for my truck . lol. Oh well.

No problem. I figured you could find your answer there.

so i've pretty much decided i want to go witht he 5100s all the way around set at 0 then get the OME 885s up front and aal in the rear. i recently read that a guy was having problems with the 5100s i guess "maxing" out? has anyone else had this issue or is that because he had the 5100s set higher then what i will have them at? i dont plan on beating the hell out of my truck off road im 22 its brand new off the showroom floor id like it to last me awhile. I do go out in the woods to hunt, fish, get to the local swimming holes, i run some trails every now and then when it rains just to throw up some mud.

I have 885s with no spacer on my access cab, gave me around 2.5" of lift, 23" center of hub to bottom of fender. OP, dont forget to adjust for tacolean with top plate spacers if you go with 5100s, also read up on aftermarket UCAs it will help with your alignment after the lift.

He might mean the shock topping out, or over extending when going over a bump.

It definitely varies from truck to truck. I have nitrochargers instead of 5100s but i dont think that should make a difference.

so just so im clear on things, the 885s without the 1/2" spacer gives 2.5" or a little more lift with the 5100s set at 0. the 885s with the 1/2" spacer and 5100s set at 0 gives 3" of lift? but with either set up i need new UCAs and if i want to run 285s i have to cut to eliminate rubbing? sorry if i keep asking the same question i just want to make sure since im living in germany till October 2014 and I dont want the hassle of getting the wrong parts. and how do i tell if i have TSB in the rear? with tsb i need 1 1/2" aal in the rear and without i need 2" in the rear or is it the other way around?
