    With stock bumper would the 886 coils give you the same or similar height as the 885 with top plate spacer?

    In other words... with a stock bumper which would have higher CV angles, 885 with top plate spacer or 886 w/o the top plate spacer?

    thanks

    The 886's will give more height, but will ride more firm as they are a much higher spring rate. You are better off with the 885's and no spacer. That will give you between 2.5 and 3" lift.

    For the OP, I also recommend the 885s with no top plate spacer, however, I honestly don't think there's a difference in firmness between the 885s and 886s.

    I went from the 884s with top plate spacer to the 886s and it all felt the same (all of this was before my AP bumper btw).

    I don't care so much about the firmness. Im really just wondering the height difference between the 885s with spacer vs. 886 without spacer. And even more - if the 886 combined with a stock bumper would ruin my CVs?

    MJonAgs32, how long did u ride the 886 without the AP bumper? Did u have any CV damage?

    Thanks

    About 2 years. I tore my boot, but that's because I was stupid to put on the 886s + the top plate spacer. That boot tore within the first few months. I took the spacer out, and haven't had problems since

    885's = 590 lbs-in.
    886's = 650 lbs.-in.

    yeah. you know what would help you out, go to a local meet (or find someone on the forum that has what you're looking for and meet up), then test it out and drive yourself. That's exactly what I did (changed my suspension 3 times) so I could get a better sense of what I was getting into before committing to purchasing.

    I remember having the 884s + top plate spacer, and test drove someone's truck who had the 886s (same OME nitros as me also), and it felt the exact same as mine, except his didn't sag like how my 884s did. It was a no brainer for me.

    Thanks for your help. Like you, I also installed the 886 and top plate (learn the hard way). I still have my stock bumper on and just tore my CV boot. I ran the 886 and top plate for about 7 months without a problem until now. I didnt mind the ride/stiffness.

    So now my truck is sitting in my garage with the torn CV boot. I'm asking all these questions so I can decide if I only need to take the top spacer out and be done or if I need to replace the entire coil all together (for an 885). This means-to-an-end is to not tear my CV again.

    I would prefer to not have to replace the 886 coil for the 885 if I don't need to. A lot less work if I could just remove the top plate spacer and be done. I just wasn't sure if the CV would tear again if I kept the 886 on. The goal is to not tear the CV again.

    You want to cheat? take off the top plate spacer and install it on the outside of the strut. That way you don't have to compress the coil. it will decrease the lift

    I just received my 886's in the mail today along with my Nitrochargers. So....I guess I will leave the top spacer off when I install these? I have 884's installed now with the top plate spacer, they are sagging from my bullbar.
