Well here is the latest project in the works. I will continue to update this thread as things progress. I picked her up last weekend, big thanks to Rebelimo for driving me down there to pick it up! The frame is in great shape but the interior needs a little work.

The plan is to fix up the inside a bit while collecting parts for the SAS.

    Specs
    1989 4runner
    22re 5 speed 189k miles
    Manual hubs
    Mucho bueno stereo tape deck
Bone stock except for a bull bar (removed)

The day I brought her home

    Snowed on her already

The previous owner booger welded the bull bar right to the frame so I chopped that off, looks alot better already

Picked up an inclinometer and SR5 gauge cluster from a dude parting one out by me. Need to wait for the new oil sender to get ordered from the local vato zone before I swap it out.

Cheby 63 swap for the rear
    Hydro assist
    dual cases
    lockers of sort
    big ass tires
    cool ass bumpers

    Stay tuned for moar.

Not much to add here yet. I've been collecting some interior parts to get it back into a little better shape. I raided a 1st gen in a junk yard by me the other week, some of these older parts that are unavailable are getting more expensive.

So far I've got a long dash pad (uncracked) from an 86 runner to replace my short dash, new glovebox, a clock (only available in SR5 model), new climate control faceplate, LEDs for the interior lights and gauge cluster, front heater resistor, oil pressure sender for the SR5 cluster, e-brake switch, and two new dorman window regulators.

All that's left is to find a shifter bezel and most of the interior will be pretty decent. Also got one of these, will certainly help when it comes to wiring shit and troubleshooting, the 89 was a strange year (89 pickup changed generations but the 4runner stayed the same) so the FSM wasn't available online after I spent some time searching so I ponied up the $30 and ordered this from the Toyota material distrubution center.

    Color pictures to boot!

Hopefully once it ain't so damn cold I can swap all this stuff in, for now it's just collecting dust in my basement  Also found out half the key lock cylinders don't work but I'm guessing they are just rusted up so I'm going to try and free them up when I have the door panels off.

Thanks I appreciate that! I managed to get most of all the interior pieces just waiting on a passenger side vent from the older style dash. At some point I'm sure I'll need a part I can't find though, some of these parts are getting harder to find.

I went out and started it today for the first time in a while and it started right up. Got to be inspecting a little closer and found the previous owner plugged the supply and return lines to the rear heater most likely from them rotting out. Wondering if it's worth my time to run new fresh lines, or just sell the heater and get a different console. The heater fan and valve controls/heater core are there, the pipes must be disconnected under the transmission tunnel.

The inclinometer I got was missing one of the knobs so I went over to the yota dealership today and turns out they still make the knobs and little screw and it was only $2.50, sweet!

I got an inclinometer a couple of years ago missing a knob for $39. Thanks for the part number. All the parts people REALLY need and Toyota chooses to keep the little inclinometer knob in their catalog?

    Here's my '89:

Nice looking rig! I really dig the inclinometers something about the old school shit on these trucks is just neat.

Soon, need to find a home in dry garage for her before I start a cuttin.

Nothing too new here. Got a used coil/ignitor assembly as my current one is working but the previous owner had the coil held together with a shoe lace lmao. Kinda sketchy, so I'd feel better swapping it out.

I did pick up an R151 turbo trans/tcase this week, pretty pumped about that. Then I can take apart my current transfer case which has a leaking rear output seal and convert it into a top shifting 23 spline for the rear case of the eventual dual case install. Marlin also makes a short shifter for the R151 which will be nice, plus it has a lower 1st gear for all them curbs at the mall, win!

Now that the weather is starting to break I will get to work a bit on fixing her up.

No sparks yet but getting closer. Parts are piling up. Got the dual cases and new tranny, front axle and steering Setup. Need to order misc crap like frame plates, rear shock mounts, drilled and tapped steering box, and hit up the junkyard for some springs.
