    Too big won't fit it is a 285/75/17 I would love to becuase my spare is a 265/65/16.
    And I will be a little uneven rolling down the highway

    That's true for a patch from inside the tire. The flange of the patch can't make the sharp bend around the sidewall.

    Dont plug it. It's too close to the sidewall and jamming the tool in could break the cords in the sidewall. Take it to a tire shop that does valcanizing repairs. The tire is remove from the rim and strips of rubber are inserted in the hole and weaved over the injury. A heated press is then used to cook the rubber to the tire to make a permanent repair.
