So I've seen a number of threads on wheel bearing replacement...

Here's what I did to achieve the cheapest replacement...

I got the Moog Hub assembly (part number: 515040 at advanceautoparts.com)

Its originally a $106 part but if you use the advance coupon code (TRT41) you will get it for $65.99 plus tax and pick it up the same day at your local store.

THERE IS A 3 YEAR REPLACEMENT WARRANTY ON THIS WHEEL BEARING

It took me about and hour to remove the wheel bearing assembly itself and another 45 min putting it back on...there are a number of videos and threads on the removal process (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c17YAsJFBwk)

ONCE TAKING THE WHEEL BEARING HUB ASSEMBLY OFF...you need to get the new bearing pressed into the assembly; basically any automotive shop can do this and my local one charged me $20 and took 10min. I cant see shops charging anymore than that.

After it was all said and done I ended up paying $90 after taxes!

How about $340 plus tax to change Rear Diff, Front Diff, and Transfer Case Fluids?
And that is was the lowest price of all the shops I called...WOW

How many miles do you have on your 07' ?
I have an 07' with 60k on it. I expecting one to go any time now.

    PS: Thanks for the Code.

    I'm getting one of these...

It's getting hard to find a shop that will press bearings out anymore. Last time I did one, I drove around for an hour in my other car trying to find a shop that would do it, and ended up putting the old bearing back in until the next day because no one would do it.

Eventually I got lucky and found a shop that would do it, and he did it for free, but I'm not dicking around next time. As soon as my next bearing goes out, I'm ordering the press.

If these prove to last even a year I may be down considering they have a 3 yr warranty. I have a 10 ton press readily available and may even have it at my house in the next week or so.

I've got 117km on my truck, or 73k miles on my 08 and my front bearing just went out. Ordered a hub and bearing assemblies from a site member. My old 97 Tacoma had 235km on it on the original bearings and original leafs. My newer Tacoma had a leaf break. Seems like this newer truck isn't at the same build quality as my older one. I've only owned my 08 for 4 months.

You might want to consider a (much) larger presser. I have access to a good bearing press and it took everything that press had to pop the old bearing out and when it did you better look out. Comes off with a BANG.

    best wheel bearings around! www.marionbumper2bumper.com
I would suggest looking at a bigger press than that. That particular model does not have a large enough (height-wise) opening to do the Toyota bearings. I feel like my deal is pretty good for my bearings that I sell. At $170 each including shipping, and looking at the parts list, there is not a big difference at all from what the OP paid. I do get that some people like to diy things, and I support that though. Always here for info and advise for those who tackle this job on there own, so always feel free to ask!

I have sold bearings to those who have recently gone out of warranty, to those who have over 170K miles on them before a failure. There really isn't a specific number of miles because it is all over the place in that range. According to my records I have sold almost almost 2000 units now, and there really has just been no common ground to the mileage.

I just posted that for the picture. I'll get a 20 ton press.

We have five vehicles in my family, so it'll get used.

Hello BamaToy1997 Quick question if I may. How much tonnage (i.e. min press tonnage) would you need to press on/off the bearing??? I realize you need to have a press throat big enough .... but what about min tonnage in your opinion (and I know this varies with different bearing fits). Thanks!

I'm all about diy. But even if someone buys yours their still going to have to install it...

    Do you offer a warranty?

    Thanks for input
