That wind shield is a solid idea.

I'd sticker bomb it, and add a light bar, but I'm known to make bad decisions.

Put the sheet on this morning. Going to let it dry longer. Got some fingerprints on it

Looks good man, I assume it will attach to the top of the roof via the stock holes? If that is the case, may not be a bad idea to make some stubby legs to keep the middle part elevated off the roof section.

It's going to be attached to the bed rack so it should be elevated about 2-3inches off the roof.

Well, I'm actually pretty happy with the way it came out. Took it about 40 miles on dirt road and highway to test and didn't hit the cab of the roof at all so the spacing is perfect. Also gained back 3.5 mpg's :goingcrazy:

Thanks, its heavy AF though. The wind drag was terrible. Just cruising around I can feel the difference

I think so. I could have got aluminum but its a lot more expensive and I'd have to buy a spool gun for my welder. Plus I've never welded aluminum so I'd need some practice before attempting to build something. My welds aren't very clean but they are solid. I need to weld up my spindle gussets too. Just need to find time to do it.

Can you weld those on the truck? or you got extra spindles?

I'm just going to weld the ones on the truck. Not sure how much extra spindles are though

Spindles are between $150-170 from a junkyard. Best bet it to pull them off, prep and fit the gussets and preheat them on a gas grill to around 450. Then weld them a bit at time. And do a cool down on the grill also. Drop the temp from 450 to lowest setting over an hour, then shut the grill off and leave the lid closed and let them cool the rest of the way.

I assume that's to heat treat the metal and strengthen it? I assume 2nd and 3rd gen spindles are the same internally with abs sensors and all?

Essentially you heat the thicker metal of the spindle so that the weld area does not cool too fast. And the post heat phase is to cool it slowly. Basically you are trying to keep hydrogen from being trapped in the metal, which leads to a weakened area. Once you remove the wheel bearing and the ABS sensor you have nothing but steel left, so there is nothing to harm.

Gotcha, that makes sense because you are welding a thinner piece of metal to the think spindle and helps with adhesion. Is the post heat so that way is doesn't warp?
