4 bolts hold the actuator in place, pull those and you will have access to the slide gear inside.

J pattern t-case, manual hub, and a vacuum actuated 4wd clamshell.

That explains why you don't have power to your passenger side.

So basically eventually getting a non add tube , and trying to see if I can get the fork back to the left side for now is the best bet? (if that is the case when I get it opened up.)

You mean someone used an ADD diff tube (with actuator still on it) with his manual hub setup?

J shift has nothing to do with it though since it is used for both ADD and manual hub trucks

J pattern have nothing to do with but the combo does. To have a J pattern case, manual hub, and ADD tube? Haven't seen that combo from factory except for 01-04 with j pattern and ADD minus the manual hub

Just do it the correct way and buy a non-add tube. Read one two many story about issue with hose clamp mod.

ADD tube was never a combo with manual hubs, and manual hubs were no longer available after 2000

ADD was simply vacuum if 1995.5 to 2000, and electric if 2001 and up

J shift available all years, and available with ADD or manual hub

Push button available only with ADD

That's what happens when you got 40s n tons :luvya:

Yes. But OP have that. So either someone swap the push button to J and swap manual hub or came with j case and ADD then someone swap to manual hub.

Like I said, the combo is not orginal.

Or blow his clamshell. Read a while back that the clamp broken and pieces got lodge in the carrier being, toasting the clamshell. So yea, I rather pay a pretty penny to get it fix correct vs a bandage.

I never understood not checking everything when buying a vehicle, blows my mind

Also OP, if you actually need to get that vacuum actuator out of the vehicle, I recently discovered you can do so by just removing the sway bar, unbolting the trans from the trans mount and jacking up the trans slightly (from under the transfer case).

This will leave enough of a gap to fenagle it out between the bottom of the bell housing and the passenger side steering rack below.

Ok I'll go searching for an add tube, and thanks for the tip @Red_Squirrel

Yeah you did a thorough explanation of everything, not sure why he would want the very same tube he already has
