Yeah it's a little overwhelming but by summer she'll be mighty impressive.

Being on a motorcycle yes loud pipes definitely save lives (ah I wish I still had mine), but in a truck it SUCKS :p. It gets kinda obnoxious when old ass ford trucks think your trying to race it when your just trying to get home from work to relax :).
With the front mount setup I'll have a high flow cat and DEFINITELY a muffler too... all 3". It shouldn't bog me down that much

I sorta feel the need to clarify... so if any of you are like "dayum this dude types whole chapters when he replies" it's because I had an awful hellacious time trying to find truly useful info on all the hundreds of forums I spent countless hours (probably days to be honest) reading to help me get my truck turbocharged correctly.

So basically the point is I want to provide as much information for any "Motor-head in development" that can be helpful including mistakes not to make, so if you guys could bear with me on that, we could be of great help to someone and end up seeing more turbo tacos on the road :)

STS Turbo, URD turbo portfueler, methanol injection,
I got a 95 tacoma regular cab that I turbocharged as well. I got lucky and got my sts turbo off of Craigslist. It was missing parts and the instructions manual by I eventually got everything to work and fit. I also installed a 97 ecu, 255 walbro, the urd turbo port fueler and mapecu3. I was having issues mapecu3 and had to send it back to urd to take a look at it. While I had the mapecu3 sent back I installed a methanol injection system and noticed that it ran pretty well at 8psi. I got my mapecu3 back like a month ago and have not found the time nor desire to reinstall it.

By the way I hope you put a check valve between the pvc valve. You don't want boost to go into the valve cover.

Get a catch can with a vent and just cap off the manifold fitting.

Sick man! I have essentially the same truck and looking to do about the same. Are you using the fuel pressure thing supplied with the STS kit or now just running stock injectors w/meth?

I'm currently using the FMU supplied with the sts kit. I'm afr are are 13 to 14 which is lean. However at WOT it goes to 10 (strange)? So I recommend the mapecu3 with the urd portfueler to get most consistency. I'm lazy right now so I haven't got around on reinstalling tuning the mapecu3. But so far my motor hasn't blow. Hahaha.

gearheadmatt, I also recommend that you look at clownmeat 4runner turbo build thread before purchasing the STS kit. I got lucky with this kit because I got it used off of craigslist. I had to modify it because I have a regular cab and with no instructions I learned a lot from clownmeat's thread and other forums. And after installing it seems pretty easy to fab one up if you know how to weld.

That's awesome bro! And yeah I put that check valve in there like 4 months before the turbo
    :D
I was debating meth injection but dayum having to deal with another resivoir and finding an uncomon chemical is not something I'd look forward to for a DD

The issue with the PVC check valve is that when in boost, the pressure builds in the lines and forces the valve closed and the PVC valve can't vent. Basically you are pressurizing the crank all the same :notsure:.

You need to put a vent/filter on the PVC vavle or run to a vented catch can and cap the mainfold fitting :notsure:

Yeah harbor freight tools has a 110v arc welder for like $150~ and it the best 150 bucks I've ever spent. It would be nice to have SS rods though because of corrosion

I just used my windshield washer bottle as the reservoir. I'll take some pictures of it so you can have some references (maybe this weekend). When I brought the sts kit it came with the methanol system too and the harness. Again I didn't have instructions so I followed the coolingmist instructions.

Also some good reading material from Tom at tubro mirage.

StAndrew, I have a oil can sitting around at home so I'll probably install per your recommendation. Or I might use the sts pvc system that I bypassed.

StAndrew, actually I don't think I need the oil catch can. I have a breather on the driver side valve cover.

Do most guys use this setup for strictly on road? That looks like a terrible spot for off-raod use.

Well the kit is higher than everything else including the axles, frame, driveshaft, and even higher than the the stock muffler... So you don't have to worry about anything unless you're climbing trees :)

So you aren't using your extra injectors in the port fueler then right?
Have you had your truck dyno'd with the current system at 8psi? On a properly fueled and properly tuned setup, you should dyno at at least 300 WHP with meth (probably close to 320).
Our stock injectors can only support around 240 HP and I seriously doubt that your meth system is giving you the means to stoich 8psi. Yes you have superior detonation protection with your meth kit but I would definitely go all out on the fueling to take advantage of that easily obtainable 50-100 HP.

Have you considered increasing the size of your primaries? You should be able to properly fuel your current setup with 318 or slightly bigger primary injectors and be able to remove the port fueler and mapecu
