Just bought a 95.5 and slowly going through fixing up some little things the previous owner neglected. Truck has power locks/windows but owner didn't have a key fob from the original owner.

I checked the service history of the truck and back in 05 a dealer in CA fixed an alarm short and cut a new master key and transmitter.

Called dealer and they said that part number has been discontinued years ago. Is there another option I can use? I also don't have the master key, just the plain silver Toyota key, is the master needed to "program" the alarm to accept a new key fob if there's an alternative out there?

The fob transmitter is separate from the key. You need to locate the alarm box computer or keyless entry computer. Get the FCC frequency code and model number on it then buy a transmitter from some place. They usually get original electronics and put a nice new case on the fob. Just be sure to communicate with a human if you buy online so you can get the correct transmitter. They changed over the years even if the fobs look the same.

The dealer installed alarm is usually RS3000 or RS3200. To program it you need the fob and then do a certain combination of turning key on and pressing a small button on the side of the alarm computer. If you do have one of these the instruction manual has been posted onlne.

Ok great, so pull the driver kick panel? And the alarm box there should have the FCC number on it? Once i have that as long as they match any fob should work then correct?

I don't know exactly where the alarm box is. They mounted it different places on different models. But yeah, look under and around the dash.

Talk/email a human because it may be more than just FCC code, and you don't want to order one and find out that it doesn't work and have to send it back (like I did, but mine was for a Corolla). Or maybe there's a local shop near you but it would be more expensive than getting one online. Giving them the original Toyota part number may help too.

is it different on a 95.5? i checked behind the driver kick panel and all i found was a Door Control ABS box and above that up behind the truck release lever was a glass breakage sensor. didn't see anything with FCC mentioned on it

You can check the passenger but if you have cruise control that control box will be on the passenger side. Have a pic of the drivers side?

That's odd? I've never seen, but also never seen the abs there as I don't have it. And if it's the factory module mounted under the seat my guess is that it's factory. If you look at the wiring and mounting you should be able to tell if it was put there or not.

There's another one for like $50 also, they both match your ID and are factory fobs

Thanks for that, i had actually found that but reading the description it doesn't actually sound like it's the right one. In the notes it says the FCC ID is BAB237131-022. Possibly mistyped it in the title. I did call my local dealer and they actually can order one for $58, i was just hoping to find one a little cheaper.

Well you can just try one of the cheapo rs3000 one on eBay and you'll only be out a few bucks if it doesn't work

That's the same one I have in my 97 Corolla. Same FCC ID, but my Product No. is 237000-1291 and yours is 237000-1292.

Don't be an idiot like me and just order a remote based on it saying it works with RS3000. The transmitter changed in different years. I ordered a remote and it turned out to not work, so I had to send it back and they sent me the correct one. Just do yourself a favor and email or call wherever you are going to order a remote and let them figure out which remote will work. They will know a lot better than you what is going to work.

Don't listen to these previous posts that say just order it and hope it works and if it doesn't you're only out "a few bucks". I'd go with the dealer part if it's not much more expensive if only so that you can walk in and return it if it doesn't work and get the correct part.

After you get the remote do a search for RS3000 instructions. It will explain how to program it and everything else.

Considering he already has the links to the OEM parts and he said he didn't want to pay that price, the aftermarket is his only other option. And none of the off brand aftermarket are going to have any way of helping him get one that is guaranteed to work.
Maybe provide a link of where you think he should get his?

I reached out to that company on eBay and this is what I got back.

BAB237131-022 is the FCC ID on the original remote
FCC-ID is BAB237000-129 is on Alarm box in the car

I had a guess that might be why they had 2 IDs listed in ad. I ordered a 022 from Amazon and it gets here Friday. We'll see if it works, I'd it does was only $30, if not I'll send it back and grab the one from the dealer and be done with it.

I've already looked up programming so just need the fob in hand and should be golden in 30 seconds, thanks guys

There is no guarantee, but he could make sure they are willing to take it back for a refund if it doesn't work or offer a different remote if the first doesn't work. The same shape of remote was used on different alarm systems and years, so it's easy to get the wrong one.

Hopefully the one he ordered works and everything is good.
