What options do I have for rear leaf springs on my 96 tacoma? The truck currently has a 3 leaf setup that I believe is OEM (2 leafs, 1 overload) I'm aware that the 95-97 have shorter coils and I'm aware of the Dakar Leafs but from other posts on here it looks like they raise the rear a bunch (one guy claimed 5")

I'm looking for 1.5" to 2" of rear lift. Nothing crazy stiff since the bed will usually be empty but I'll occasionally move motorcycles around.

    Any ideas?

I'm interested as well. My understanding is with the deavers the j59s are to long and you have to special order for the 95.5 to 97s. I also heard that the deavers from pre Tacoma 95 and older leafs will work. Not 100% sure about that.

You are correct that the j59s are too long unless you want to move the mounting points. I have a 95.5 and didnt want to move my mounts. However I have sweet work around for you. You can take your truck or just the stock rear springs (saves you some $) into deaver and then ask them to build you a custom pack off of your stock. They will remove the overload spring, add extras (based on how you want it to ride and planned weight carried) and rebend/shotpeen the old springs in the pack. Probably will run you around $400 instead of $800+. They do have limitations on how much lift they can get out of them though its about 1.5"-2" but its a huge upgrade over stock and less $$$ than full custom pack

Wow this is good info! I'm only about an hour from deaver so I'll have to get in contact with them and see what they can do for me.
