New member here. My 95 Tacoma passenger door latch doesn't work. I couldn't unlock the door "manual lock," but I somehow got the door open by playing with it. I took off the interior lining and decided something is broken in the latch so I am trying to remove it to see if it needs replaced or if I can fix it. I disconnected the rods to the inside and outside handles, and removed the mount bolts. But how do I remove latch? I don't see how to disconnect the rod from the inside lock, nor can I figure out how to get the latch out of the door. The latch is installed behind a metal support structure, apparently for the window track and I can't see it very good or get my hands on it. I can't drop it down with the lock rod attached because the inside lock rod passes thru a plastic rectangular tube and has a bend in it, so it won't fit thru the small opening below it so it therefore needs to be disconnected which I can't get to. Does anyone have a link to a video or instructions? I've read people say it's an easy replacement, and I'm very handy with tools but this one has me stumped. The instructions I've found just say disconnect the rods, remove the bolts, remove the latch. If only it were that easy.

Update.....I got it out. I had to remove the two bolts for the window track support and move it a little, then the latch dropped down just enough for me to get a pair of needle nose pliers in to disconnect the lock rod. I then pulled the latch down and the lock rod came out of the plastic guide tube (didn't think it would because of the bend). I then could get the latch out. More info....I operated the latch by hand when I got it out and for some reason the latch cam wasn't moving when the actuator rod was rotated in the "unlocked" position. I then took out the one screw holding the housing together to see what was going on and "kaboing!" springs went everywhere. I figured out how to get it back together (wasn't easy) but the cam still doesn't rotate when the arm is turned. Not sure why but I ordered a new one online for $159 total with 2-day shipping. Now I just hope I can get it back together because I can't drive it until I do. Wish I had taken pictures or video taped the removal.
