95 Upstream Oxygen Sensor Replacement

    Engine light came on a couple of weeks ago. Went to the nearest auto zone and found out it was bank 1- sensor 1 - o2 sensor failure. This is my first DIY project on my 95 Tacoma. Looked up forums and youtube on the subject of tacoma o2 sensor replacement and went down the rabbits hole last night. The biggest problem I encountered was spacing. For whatever reason Toyota decided to cram the upstream sensor in the most inaccessible spot imaginable. It was a bear to get the sensor unplugged. There was a lot of swearing, twisting and turning and my fear is that I may have damaged the wiring on the connector while trying to disconnect the ****er. But after an hour it did come loose. Question now is did I get the right part from Auto Zone? Visual inspection of the old with the new seems to suggest I did not. Any help on this would be great. Thanks and cheers.

    Do the connectors match up?
    I've read that that the cable length is different between the auto and 5-speed, maybe that accounts for the difference. Better than being too short. Denso is the OEM brand, but I would imagine they are more expensive.

    Hey Rick, the connectors do match up and the Denso was $25 more plus 2 days to ship. The thing I'm worried about is the Bosch sensor itself seems totally different then the OEM.

    From what ive read these trucks are picky about the o2 sensor. Alot say to go with oem denso or nothing.

    This! From experience spend the extra cash and go for the OEM Denso one. I had to replace one for my older '94 and the thing wouldn't run with the auto zone ngk or anything but Denso.
