96-04 Elite Off Road Plate bumper

    Well functionally they should be the same unless ARB uses thinner steel. I haven't seen them next to each other but I'm pretty sure the Elite has more ground clearance and a better approach angle for obstacles the ARB sticks out a lot further then the Elite limiting the angles you can approach ledges or other obstacles. The recovery points on the Elite are stronger 3/4" over the I think 1/4" of the ARB. That's about it except for the looks

    The looks alone sold me on Tim's bumper. IMO The ARB bumper just doesn't flow with the lines of the 98+ tacoma's. They look great on the front of the older tacoma's and toyota pickups but they look to boxy for the more round tacoma's.

    You suck. The bumper I have been drawing up is alot like yours, except the leds will both be in the center, never really though of putting them on the side..O and you will love the D2s, I have a set and they are ridiculous. As soon as I get feeling better I will get some pics for ya.

    I went to the 4wheel parts jeepfest a couple of weekends ago out at the fairgrounds, Rigid had a both there. Got to play with all the different sizes. Quite a variety and man are those bright.

    They had a pretty good "show" price of $180/pr. for the small ones, 4" right?? I think that is something like $50 off retail isn't it?

    Yeah the Duly's are just about the same just not as much light output and they run about 180/pr and there about 1100lm the D2's are more then twice the output :D I'm going to turn a night trail into day. and what better time to get these were doing some night wheelin in June and I'll get to put these lights to the test and my soon to be installed rock lights :cool:

    Yeah, the ARB sticks out quite a bit and can ruin approach angles.

    I disagree on that. I have a '95.5 and I'd still rather have the Elite :D

    Really, what are the point of rock lights? I've just never seen a great reason to install 'em.

    Have you ever wheeled at night and not just dirt roads I mean rock crawling? Rock lights are a must so you can see where to place your tires.

    I'm not saying that the elite bumper doesn't look good on that body style, I meant that the arb looks better on that body style over the newer styles. I would chose the elite bumper over the arb any day.

    Yeah out west we have a lot of rocky trails and running them at night without proper lighting can end badly. Rock lights will help you see the obstacles your climbing or better yet coming off of. Some rock ledges are up to 24" on a lot of the trails in California and without lights you would never be able to tell how big it is without jumping out of the truck every time you come to one. I think wheelin anywhere rock light would help out if you ever stick your head out the window to watch where your tires is going to be placed rock lights will help in the dark a lot. And 117.00 bucks for some LEDs is well worth it to me and if your a mall crawler you can just light them up on the street :D


    And they look pretty sick.
