So im getting ready to swap out my 3" blocks and stock springs for a "real" lift.

    This is what im getting:

-All Pro 5 pack 3" springs
    -Bilstein 5125
    -Spring relocation mounts
    -U-bolt flip kit
    -Shock relocation mounts

Because my truck is a 96, i have to relocate the front spring mount 2" forward... Correct? Do i just cut out the old mount, measure 2" forward and weld the new one on? How precise does it have to be?

And because of the u-bolt flip kit i also have to relocate the shock mounts onto the axle. Where do i relocate it? And do i have to relocate the top mount too?

Any tips and ideas would be great!
    Thanks

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Here is my U bolt flip kit install http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/156849-1st-gen-u-bolt-flip-kit-install.html

And with moving the spring mount forward yes it has to be spot on or your shackle angle will be off. I what i would do it draw a line on the center line of the front bolt hole and measure 2" forward draw another line and line up the center line of the new mounts bolt hole and tack in place. Do heavy tacks and put the springs on and the axle. Drop the truck on it's own weight and check the shackle angle. It should be about 75* to 80* to the back when on level ground. NOTE when putting the truck back down and the springs just tacked put jack stands under your frame about a 1/4" to 1/2" lower then the frame just in case the tacks fail.

When i relocate the spring mount towards the front, do i have to worry about the frame arch? Because they are already mounted pretty close to that arch.

Now about the u-bolt flip, can i just relocate the bottem mount to the axle and forget about the top mount?

You know I've never done it and I'm not at my truck right now so I can't run out and look.

And the shock mounts if you keep the top mounts your shock angle will be over 40* they are mounted at 30* stock. Also they will lose about 1.75" stroke because the lower mount is moving up. I would weld a cross member across the frame and weld in new upper mounts so you can chose your shock angle and stroke length. Another thing wait until your done with the install to order your shocks or buy 10" stroke and build off those.

Hmm... I think im getting in way over my head. Maybe ill just scrap the flip kit and cut the long u-bolts down.

It's really not that hard I did mine in a few hours at a mod day none the less. I think the relocation of the shocks freaks everyone out that's why you don't see many 1st Gens installing the flip kit.
