96 Tacoma alternator wont budge

    Im trying to replace my belts, my alternator belt came apart on me a few days ago, and ive gotten them all off (except the alternator belt, but it decided to turn into shrapnel), and I cant manage to move the alternator to get the belt on. Ive completely undone the top bracket, but I cant seem to turn the bottom tension bolt. Ive actually broken a socket wrench so far trying to turn it.

    What am I doing wrong? Ive been stuck in a motel parking lot for two days now...

    Its the 2.7 4 banger. I dont know what I'm doing wrong...

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    I use a box wrench on the nut side and rest that on the frame while I break the front loose with a long handled ratchet. Did this yesterday so I know it works.

    Does the bolt turn clockwise or counter clockwise then? I know its backwards sometimes on alternators, at least it was on my acura.

    counter clockwise to break it loose. It is just a normal bolt and nut

    To remove the belt, you loosen the upper pivot bolt, loosen the tensioner locknut and then loosen the tensioner adjuster bolt to take tension off the belt. Here's a video that might help you:
