Get a regular cab body... that'll be a fun ride being much lighter than the access cab.

It will be some work but not impossible .

Your talking about a pick up body older then 95 ?

The only thing that comes to mind is the cab wiring which would be like any swap with the option to make an adapter harness or just repin the Tacoma plug for the fourth ECM plug

The other would be the fuel filler access being on the right instead of the left.

Since the work would be quite different I can`t say what would be more labor intensive swapping the body and cab or putting your good parts on another Tacoma

No... because before 95 1/2 model...it wasn't a Tacoma...I was talking about gen 1 Tacoma regular cab. Access cabs always had longer wheelbase and more weight. The regular cab is more car like so it handled better and weighs less... The most fun I had in a regular cab was being in a new Syclone, but that's a different beast all together. I think the regular cab with a 3.6 motor would have plenty of power and extra mods available from the 3.6 motor...would make it a fun build with what parts he has already.

I could not say I have never owned a 3.6 engine.

Regular cab would be no big deal except the cab wiring and moving some body mounts

OP has a motor with 70K on it...seems to be still good unless the accident did a whammy on it... but getting a regular cab with a good frame and body and transfer over the parts would make it a unique truck. Unfortunately the gen1 are holding their value considering it's an old freaking truck... could be a good low cost swap. Other option is to find an access cab with a rusted frame, but good body and do the swap.

If you can find one a 5speed cab swap would be pretty straight forward. Youl have to modify an autos body to accept clutch pedal.

Oh and your trucks a 3.4.
