Hey guys, anyone know why my idler pully looks off center from my crank and compressor. Bought this truck and the guy said the compressor was locked up. He had the belt off and there was no idler pully in the slot. Pulled compressor, clutch was locked up but not the compressor. I got the kit with compressor, dryer and expansion valve. Replaced everything along with a condenser. Waiting on the dealership to get me a new idler pully with the hardware to install in the slot on the bracket. Meanwhile I replaced the front crank seal and while under there I noticed the bracket and the slot seems to stick out farther than the crank pulley the belt rides on and the compressor pully. Is this normal or is it an optical illusion? I haven't got the idler and the hardware to install yet but seems like the belt would be crooked once installed. Any of you guys know what I'm talking about? Thanks in advance!

Kinda looks like similar problem....bracket kicks the tension pulley too far out.....
    compressor sets back too far.....

He says the wrong bracket on right is made of steel.....correct one aluminum.....wonder what yours is.....

Mine is aluminum and looks like it's been on there for many years. Can't imagine why if it didn't work. That's what's got me stumped

I think the engine was swapped at some point and they put the old bracket on the new engine. Wonder if anyone knows how to get the bracket that isn't so offset?

The second odd bracket looks like it was used in other models that share the 3rz engine.....

I ordered that part this morning and it's supposed to be in tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. The compressor lined up with the crank so I hope it doesn't move that position, just the idler position

Just in case someone wants an answer to how it all worked out, I received the bracket part# 88431-43020 and it worked perfectly. That being said, the belt they told me was supposed to work was too short. Also had one from AutoZone and it was the exact same size too short. Found out for sure that the engine that's in there now came out of a 99 four runner. That belt called for a 35-1/2" belt where the Tacoma called for a 34" inch belt I believe. Regardless, the 35-1/2" belt worked perfectly. Recharged the a/c and I'm blowing cold now. Thanks to this thread and O'silver_taco for the help!

Yeah they put 2rzs and even more 3rz s in all kind of models...
    accessories gonna be little different...

Kinda a head scratcher.....the belt should of been the same....that should not of changed.
All 3rz with that correct bracket should all be same.......

Too bad I cant put our engines side by side and see exactly where the difference is at...
not many mysteries after half a decade hangin with these guys....listen to everyones boo hoos......

Lol, that's funny. I agree the bracket was the same so the belt should have fit. Don't think the block is different. Only thing I can imagine is the harmonic balancer is a larger diameter???

Good work both you guys, I know that's a relief. Accessories/ hardware tend to get overlooked.
