97 taco 3.4 tick help me

    i got a 97 taco 3.4 5 speed it has a tick on the drive side. sounds like a liter to me just sounds like its in one spot. what should i do??

    should i just try to replace that one liter or is this ok

    truck has 151,000 miles and im about to do a timing belt so this is when i want to replace or what

    Welcome to the site!

    Not really sure what you mean when you refer to replacing a 'liter', do you mean a valve? A slight tick is a common traight to these motors, but what you have might be more than that.

    Have you checked the obvsious like the oil or changed it recently?

    they all have a slight tick. it has to do with the emissions system, not the valves.

    i did mean lifter hahaha sorry

    the oil was just changed and it still does it. it just sounds like one lifter is ticking
    a friend said sometimes it happens but idk and before i take and try to replace it
    i thought i would ask here 1st thanks

    sold....
    may sound stupid but my truck ticks when i get on it a little with regular gas. kinda sounds like spark knock or something. as soon as i put premium in it the noise disappears so i just keep premium in there now and no more ticking.

    it just sounds like that on one side the other side sounds good it ticks at idle and when u give it gas it just gets alil louder with more gas
