My truck made it to 22yrs old today so it needed a spot here on TW
On 5-9-97 I sealed the deal and brought home this little black pickup (small by today's standards!) from the now defunct/re-located/re-named SouthRoads Toyota in Bellevue, NE
I have not seen too many original 1st gen owners on TW, especially the very early model years (before the assorted exterior/interior redesigns) ... when the Taco was a new breed of compact truck and tearing up the roads (paved, unpaved and absence of)

had duraTrac's rotated and balanced at DT today after their first 4k miles
they did the cross method of rotation
it is interesting that for all the times I have had tire rotations every 5k or so at the dealer that they would only put the front on back and vice versa, never (that I am aware of) did they cross to the other side ... wtf
    .......
dropped lower fuel shield off at the powdercoater to get cleaned up ... will take almost 2wks to get it back and on, ordered new bolts for that at wholesale
inquired about powdercoating rear axle housing
    .......
tried some more trial and error with A/C issues that seem to be intermittent
dammit if i am going to have the dash pulled to fix this

picked up some type of silicone spray at detail shop today to spray on the the winshield cowl, plastic around mirrors, rubber around the windows, door latches, tailgate latch, etc.
going to try and see how it holds up in making them looks less aged and sunworn
he told me it last maybe 3wks and then spray on again and wipe off the paint...

    -----------

nephew managed to catch the mileage on I-80 near Avoca IA
traffic was a bit heavy to get upto 90mph but that is a '9' behind the needle
for some reason i like these #s

If you're ever in the area, stop on by, it's beautiful here!

Pics in the early post are working now, but your lastest post/pic isn't showing up (for me anyways). How are you uploading the photos?

    ... preventative maintenance day ...

full cooling system purge :goingcrazy:... first time ever completely done, have only had radiator drain/fills (once with new waterpump/timing belt replacement)
there had to be some 22yr old coolant molecules in there somewhere, but not supposedly are all gone
mechanic said no noticeable contaminants came out so should be good until timing belt needs changed

brake system flush, 1st time done that
jury is out on why or why not that should be done ever on a sealed system...
it's done now ... no need to worry
definitely noticed some difference in brakes driving out of shop

@Luv my yota ... what do you think of these hoses? New ones needed after 22yrs?

    ..........

cruised around (test drove) a new 6sp silver Corolla Hatchback XSE while waiting for job to be done
they must want this MT off their lot because they wanted to make a deal onit, classic silver metallic is not my color of choice
