97 Tacoma

Hello everyone I have a 97 Tacoma 4x4 extra cab 3.5 v6 my question is it wants to run hot I can drive it for about 40 miles an stop an put water in it an it will go for awhile an I’ll have to do the same thing it does not leak water any where that I can c but it will use it an run hot an is no water in the oil either any suggestions would b greatly appreciated

 

is it blowing white smoke out of the exhaust. If it's not leaking anywhere, then it sounds like you might have a blown head gasket, or possibly a cracked head. I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in here. Need to post how many miles are on the vehicle and any other problems you might be having.

 

No smoke the only thing that wrong is one coil pack needs replaced that’s it the truck runs strong an everything works as it should an needs a starter but nothing mechanical wise

 

If the water is disappearing every 40 miles and then getting hot,
You have a blown head gasket or a radiator leak.

Do pressure test and a chemical test to see if there’s any exhaust in the antifreeze

How many miles on the engine
DONT over heat that motor tho if it’s still good,

That’s one of the biggest reasons for blown heat gaskets

 

When I noticed it running hot by the gauge I stop an u can hear it boiling an when I take the radiator cap off it will start shooting out the radiator 218500 miles

 

The other problem is that stock engine gauge is not very accurate and might be actually running hotter.
Get it tested before you take a chance on damaging the motor

If your lucky it’s the fan clutch or a bad radiator or a bad water pump and it’s blowing off fluid because of this some where

 

I hope so maybe I’ll b lucky this time lol
