I'd do a new set of leaves regardless of the choice of front end replacement. Remember, these things are 20 years old.

01-04 flares were the textured plastic, 00 and earlier were fiberglass. I have the newer flares on the rear of my truck, haven't found a set of fronts to match yet

Thanks for the info, so on your truck you have the 98-00 fiberglass front flares painted black? They look much skinnier than the ones on my truck, maybe just the angle and lighting?
How are you attaching the 01-04 flares?
From what I understand they clip to holes in the surface of the fender/bedside.

Mine were black when I bought the truck. They definitely look skinnier than your flares to me as well. The 01-04 flares are held on with the screws inside the wheel well. It holds them on fine without all the clips, and I wasn't going to make a bunch of square holes in my bedsides.

I had the chrome fender flares and replaced with the Bushwacker OEM Style black. These have a smooth finish. Everything fit perfectly, although I know these aren't the cheapest option!

Question, got rid of the OEM aluminum wheels today and replaced them with OEM spare rims. I'm curious to know if the little spot in between the lug nuts is okay to hit up with a light dusting of black spray paint.

    Have a PreRunner btw.

Can you give me a side shot with the 5 stars? Had them on my 4th gen 4runner I just don't know how they'll look on our trucks...but it looks like they look good. Not about the SCS cult.

Sure, here you go. They are falcon wheels 17x9 0 offset with 265/70r17 tires. This is the perfect size for the 1st gen in my opinion and the offset is perfect. I've gotten a lot of compliments on these wheels from people (even people who aren't into cars).

(One trick to making 265s look bigger than they actually are is getting a 9 inch wide wheel)

Do you have the part number for the flares? Just bought a 99 Prerunner and want to get rid of the chrome ones.

Here's what I bought. Again, they're not cheap but do fit and work well.

I’ve had Toyota for a long time now, first was a 1985 last year for the straight axle and just gave my 3rd Gen to my son. I just bought a 99 Prerunner with 2.7 auto and just started rebuilding it so I can put 100K on it. Going to ask
    Thanks
