I test drive it.. condition is "like new".. garage kept in northern Cali never seen snow or salt. It's a single cab 2.4 2wd so as bare as it gets. Engine is cleanest I've ever seen. Just curious if 8 was high or should be more around 7?

Hmmmmmmm... that my friend, is up to you. I would check the prices of other Tacoma models like that on your local Craigslist and compare yourself. I wish I could be more help but I'm not knowledgeable of prices of the 2.4l base models.

Pretty good I'd say. I'm looking to get around that for my 08 w/ 130k if that's any indicator.

Yeah my '04 was pretty much right off the 2004 showroom floor when I bought it last year. 24k miles and from Arizona so completely rust free, just a few paint chips and one small dent, that was it. The Toyota dealership wanted $20k for it and I ended up paying pretty close to that. 9k sounds like a decent deal for the one you're describing, being that it's a 5 lug 2wd it's not as "in demand" as the 4x4s are. Just make sure that it was still maintained well because even though the miles are low, letting a vehicle sit for too long can also have negative effects. I've had to make a few repairs on mine over the last year (beating the crap out of it off-roading probably didn't help though)

What repairs have you made that would attribute to sitting so much in your experience? Curious cuz my 99 Tacoma sat for 4 years in a "professional" storage and hasn't been the same since.

Thank you. So are they plug and play or do you need to install an inline ballast? Are the led's in the lower corners the turn signals? If I make my own retrofits they're still cheaper than the DS2 kit by a good bit plus I'd have to buy housings - how well do you think they compare to "legit" retrofits with high quality projectors? Have you had any to compare them to? I figure that can wait if these work well. Thanks again.

Well you have to do a bit of wiring for the leds/halos you can wire them any way you like but I wired them to my park lights and honestly I would say the retrofits would probably be the better way to go

I was thinking that too. These look way better than the 2nd gen spyder lights imo. I like your style with keeping the truck clean looking - I'll be doing a similar look once I take care of other functional things on this truck. Thank you brother! Sweet ride.

Pretty much stock except I've added 1.25 inch BORA wheel spacers after the photo was taken.

Nice truck and site handle. Where are you from in Maine? How have you been fighting the rust on the frame?

I'm in the Portland area. I bought this truck in Florida in October of 2015. It is rust free! I fluid film it every 6 months. I apply it inside the frame and outside the frame as well as everything else I can get to. So far so good! Everyone knows it's me around here because the truck is purple and it's got the older front end. Not too many pre 2001 Tacomas running around in these parts. I always love it when I see one!

Yeah they had some awesome colors back in those years - I wish they still made trucks with that purple an paradise blue. That's a good find! My parents grew up in Portland and went to Portland high. They live on Munjoy Hill - my dad grew up there when it was the ghetto and my grandfather bought an apartment building up there. My parents lived in Augusta when I was younger and now they live in that apartment building to take care of my grandparents. Do you spend much time in FL? My other grandmother used to live in Orlando for the winters and worked at Universal Studios...

The purple has grown on me! I'm 10th generation Mainer but my son is one of the first to be born in Portland. I remember Munjoy Hill from the 80's when I first started coming up to Portland. I'm up there all the time these days. My mom and sisters live in Englewood on the Gulf Coast. I go for a few weeks in the winter. My mom's second husband worked driving a train at Disney in Orlando for a while after he retired.

First check-in with my 1999. I picked up the newer wheels as a take-off from a member here in Texas. :D And at 241k miles, the '99 is looking for some goodies as she is just about all stock!
