I have a 98 Tacoma SR5 2.4L automatic (on the column) so here goes my issue
    CEL with P0500 code
Speedometer and odometer work perfectly. Cruise comes on but won’t set. Had the cluster checked, came back ok. Replaced ECU as recommended by local dealer. Had to find a reman. But 30 miles later, cel. Anyone have a clue?

    Welcome to the forum!!

    Has this ever worked correct?

Anything stand out right before the code tripped the first time

Never forget the wiring that connects every thing!!

Sure sounds like a intermittent open circuit.

Might be a loose pin or a broken wire. Doing electrical trouble shooting without The Toyota wiring diagrams is very frustrating.

    Good Luck!!
