99 Satoshi Grille

Well, I've seen these done before, but a Google search doesn't turn up very many results, so I thought I'd share mine. It took some figuring out (I don't pretend to be good at bodywork), but it turned out pretty much ok. The zip ties you can see in the picture holding the emblem on were temporary, just hadnt bolted it on yet.

 

Nice job! I like how you created a larger cross bar for the bottom of the grill instead of the thin stock part. I personally only ever made one of the 98-00 style grills.

 

Thanks! I've seen your work, and it was one of the few examples I was able to use for inspiration. I'd like to take credit for that lower crossbar, but that's actually stock. Cutting out the stock Toyota oval left a nasty hole in it, though, so I had to fiberglass that in, just like the spots where the middle crossbar came out. Here's the before pic, it probably makes more sense than my description

 

Been a while since I really took a close look at one of them...
I see what you mean. I removed both cross bars and just retained the thin strip on the bottom when I built one for @MTgirl
Bigger opening but more fragile design. I've also seen a few where the bottom was reinforced to be thicker & sturdier.
Pics like this make me miss my 99.
