99 taco ext cab 2wd prerunner - how do you remove the map light, rear view mirror?

as the title says, how do you remove the map light, rear view mirror?

I cant find anything on the forums about how to do this and I need to replace a bulb

 

Not sure if yours is like mine 2000

But the center piece pops out right above the mirror arm then the whole cover pops off exposing the bulbs

I just popped mine off to see!!

 

ok so no screws to take loose? just pop the small center piece tab out then it just unsnaps so the whole light comes off the roof?

 

Well the bulbs are right there if you want to remove the whole light with the mirror there are screws to remove

I thought you were just changing bulbs?

ok thanks, I see in ebay pictures how the rear view mirror mounts separately to it as well.

now I just have to find one cheap, most of them on ebay want $40-$50 for the map lights or its just the two switch and not the 3 switch lights so I guess its salvage yard time or somebody with a parts truck for me to be able to find a 3 switch one for $20
