some people have had great luck with 3.0 longevity, a lot have not. I love those style trucks but if I personally were to buy one it would be with the intent of doing a 3.4 swap on it, which the 3.0 truck is a great candidate for it since the mounts and trans will bolt up.

Old vehicles are a labor of love, and typically not a good choice for a daily driver unless you are flush with resources and have an alternative to drive while working on it.In short many times the idea is much better than the reality. YMMV

Well this and the 99 are within my price range. Personally I like the 94 better but the 99 is manual transmission

Between the two of them and what you have said about your budget I would wait for a better alternative.

Forcing a purchase is one of the worst things you can do, when the right one comes along you wont have to ask anyone about it you will be making a thread gloating about your awesome new wheels. It is hard to be patient at times when you find what you want but also as more time goes by you can put more money back and your budget may grow enough to get the perfect one

    ...we'll get there.
Op do you have to buy now, or are you just looking?

If you're buying used you've got time on your side. Pick out what you think you'd like and then research. Research a ton and try to talk yourself out of it. if you can't, then you finally found the truck you WANT. Then play the waiting game until the right one comes. It will, but it may take time. Be ready to walk away from every sale. There is no perfect truck. Theres just the right truck at the right time.

By then you'll know what you're getting yourself into.

I don't have to buy now. I've been looking since July 2015. My budget hasn't really changed and I don't think it will over the next year. My credit is shit, I have a lot of catching up to do. I've passed on several tacomas and been fine. This 99 with 320K miles doesn't jump at me because of the lift, 33s and 320K miles. I like the 94 a lot more. It has the style I like and its in my price range.

I could wait until the wheels fall off my Acura (another 4 years?) or I could go ahead and start my Tacoma ownership. One thing to consider is trying to maybe sell the 99 if I do but it. if I can slowly save up to put a new motor in it then I could maybe get 10K for it. Just thoughts.

I'm in no rush but I do think I should buy one before I completely tear up my Acura seats from all the hauling in and out. I'm starting to play more so the wear and tear is increasing

The 94 is the route you don't want. It looks good but the motor is not what you want.

Not sure what red one you're talking about. But if you're getting a Tacoma, go 95.5-2004.

95.5 would be my choice but hard to find a manual 4x4 ext cab for less than 9K

You just haven't seen a good one pop up yet then. I paid $8500 for my '02 4x4 extended cab v6 TRD off road (basically as loaded out as you can get for the year) with less than 140,000 miles. I'm sure you can find one with less "features" and a few more miles for much cheaper

WAY too high of a price. Also the 3.0 is garbage.

    Do you need 4x4?
