My air worked fine last time i parked it. Got in it and now clutch wont engage on compressor. I took it to a guy and he said it wont take freon. I have 14.4 volts at clutch and good ground. Checked with ohm meter and had 4.4 ohms. I went ahead and replaced compressor clutch thinking it must be bad since I have voltage and ground. Still same thing with new one. Any suggestions would help. Im at a loss on this one.

You could check in the fuse box maybe a relay problem or fuse problem

Checked the fuse, it is good. No relay to be found. I dont understand how im getting battery voltage to coil and its not engaging clutch. Maybe new coil is faulty also. Im at a loss.

If the guy says it won't take refrigerant, and he doesn't know why, you should take the truck to a seasoned a/c tech who won't throw parts at it until it's fixed..... just sayin'.

It is a buddy of mine who is a tractor mechanic. I asked him to see if it needed freon. I assumed it was the coil since it had correct voltage and ground and wouldnt engage. So i threw the part at it. Ive mechaniced for 25 years but i dont do ac work for that reason.

So both the old AC clutch and the new one don`t pull in .

Even with Battery Voltage to the Clutch ??

Where are you measuring the Voltage at the plug ??

Corroded connection works with the Meter probe but not when plugged in . This is enough to drive any of us crazy!!

Jumper the AC clutch direct from the battery ??see if it pulls in

In this day quite possible you got a bad one out of the box .

Was it new or untested used one ??

Yes measured at the plug. Its a single wire denso compressor. Also tried jumper wire from battery and nothing. Bought a new one from autozone. I normally dont shop there but they were only one that offers just the coil.
