Update: Alignment done again at the shop, came out normal. Looks like it was just a misplaced alignment head by the tech. Nothing to see here...carry on!

    Gents,

Any ideas what might cause a passenger rear end misalignment after a new suspension all around in a 1st Gen? Didn't think it was possible for one side of a solid axle to get crooked like this.

Here's the data: http://i.imgur.com/LklsMUi.jpg I had the entire suspension replaced recently, and noticed while going through my paperwork that the rear end now has 1.4 deg camber, 3.0 deg toe with 2.91 deg total toe and a -1.55 deg thrust angle. As you can see, before the leaf replacement the rear axle was almost zero'd out (like I assume it would be, solid rear axle and all...).

    Old suspension:
    - OME 881 / OME N91S
    - Stock leaf springs w/Downey 1.5" AAL and OME N85 shocks

    New Suspension:
    - OME 881 / Bilstein 5100 including Wheelers ~1/4" poly spacer on driver's side
    - OME CS046RA/B Dakar leaf springs (3rd leaf removed) w/Bilstein 5100s and OME GS12 no-lift greasable shackles

Any clues what could cause that change in the passenger rear end only with the new suspension parts? Or how to fix it?

Note: the shop did the 100mi re-torque of my new ubolts and did note that one of them required almost a full turn.

    Appreciate any ideas.

Possibly an issue with the leaf spring centering pin

Thanks, I will get that checked first.

Still curious how even a bent centering pin can make only one wheel go "crooked". Not sure I understand how a single wheel has a movement point like that on a solid axle. Huh.

This is a long shot, but the axle housing on my old '84 crawler had 2 holes
in the spring pads (one centered and one offset) for the centering pin head to go into.

I don't recall if my Tacoma has that or not.
If it does, it could be that the offset hole was inadvertantly used on one side.

With the front wheels straight, carefully check your wheel base on both sides
(distance from center of front hub to center of rear hub). They should be identical.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
The right side is definitely not seated right with all of that positive camber and toe. The left side is seated correctly where the right side is actually forward of the axle centerline in relation to the centering pin.

My guess: the centering pin is forward of the centering hole.

Perhaps the centering pin head didn't even seat into a hole at all (ie - INSTALLER ERROR )

I am hoping it was just a measurement issue with the alignment tool doo-dad. We will see as soon as I can get back over to the shop. Appreciate the opinions, I will ask them to check the center pin if the measurement comes out the same.

Happy to have the "lifetime alignment" package with Firestone right now...
