Word of caution, @Phoosa had to help out pulling the teardrop after Sean's taco started overheating for the second time. I think he saw his temps rise as well as soon as he started pulling it. Going south they didn't have any issues but coming back soft sand and strong head winds made it more difficult

I saw that, just been debating it from the beginning. May just get a hotel for the night as we are still debating as it would be a slow drive down there. With everything we will be just north of 3000lbs.

The 1st mile into the access is mainly packed sand, you can camp there and run with the rest of the taco's, then head back for the night. Nothing better than camping on the beach...:mudding:

I have to be honest with you all:

At this point my wife and I are in a real pickle, financially speaking. For about the past year or so we've been in this situation where, every month - without fail, something some sort of unexpected expense comes up that basically leaves us broke at the end of the month.

Doggy getting sick, flat tires, worn out tires, unexpected days off of work to take our sick baby to dr.'s appointments (he's all better now :) ), these are just a few among a million other things that never fail to pop up every month.

It has been a very difficult 2017/2018 for us so far. I work 2 jobs I work a full time and part time, I work every day of the week almost all the time at this point, my wife works full time, it hasn't been easy.
Unfortunately I do have some debt that I'm trying to get rid of so that's not helping at all. No one to blame but myself, it was all used as emergency funds not mindless junk.

So were at the point where going to the valley for this trip that I started back in 2010 is definitely going to set us back. We will do our best to either fly to Texas or drive there.
I will work every day of the week for the remainder of the year if I have to in order to make this trip and not fall behind on bills.

I am not asking for pity or handouts, I just want to be honest with you all about our situation and all it's going to take on my part to get my family and myself to Texas from Cali for this trip. There's no way we will miss an event that I started so long ago.

On top of all of that, I am once again starting the hiring process for the 2018 San Antonio Fire Department so all of the flying back and forth (if I pass each part of the process) will not be helping our situation since I'll be missing days of work on both jobs just to fly to SA. I understand that it is not going to be an easy journey on either accounts (SPI trip and SA Fire Department trips) but I feel that if I do it all just right, we'll hopefully be moving back at the end of this year/early 2019.

So with all of that being said, I hope to see you all this year in what I hope turns out to be our biggest turnout to date!!!! My wife and I are definitely looking forward to seeing you all there this year!!!

It will get better, as all things do. I had a rough patch a few years ago and when the job change came along all got better, hold in there and you will make it. FWIW I work for the City as well but in a different department, if you need anything while in your town just let me know.

Not a city job but I work for a rapidly expanding equipment rental company. Sure there is an opening somewhere. DFW & San Antonio areas.
