I have the 4 cylinder and drive in the slow lane. I'm running a regular 21.5-22 mpg. The truck is new so I expect about a 1mpg gain after a few thousand more miles.

Bottom line: It's a truck. They don't get good mileage. If it's that much of a concern, do what my dad just did and buy a Tesla*. Yes, it costs as much as a house does in some places. But you'll never worry about mileage or lack of horsepower again. Lord, that is a fun car to drive.

    *I can't afford one.

I saved a bunch of money by letting my wife drive my truck and I now drive her car that averages 31 mpg. This just made sense as I’m now the only one commuting to and from work. This was hard to do at first, but the savings has been great and I’d be throwing money away not doing the switch.

Where I'm going with this is, if you're concern is cost of fuel perhaps you need to reconsider what it is you are driving whether it be swapping cars with your spouse or trading the truck in for something more practical.

DON'T waste your money paying for mods that supposedly improve your mpg, not worth it at all.
