A blazer ran me and my 96 Taco off the road. A fence board came through my dash.

That is one freaky accident. Bet you couldn't do it again if you tried!

Glad everyone is OK, good luck in your search for the replacement.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Fucking drivers texting...glad you are ok and nobody was riding with you, that could have turned into something fatal. Really sucks, that is a nice little 96 too. How many miles does it have? Really recommend the 2nd gen 4x4 2.7 Access cab, I love mine and it is 5 stars all around with crash ratings I am pretty sure.

Yeah, I would have had to pull the .45 out of the glove compartment and shot the sorry S.O.B. and save the Trooper the hassle of writing up an accident report. Shooting the bastard would have been intentional not an accident.

Ha, no, that's a rockband drum pedal :D

I was loaded up to go to a friends house.

I'm just glad I didn't have my real drum set on the back.

    :rimshot:

    Thanks. It has 185k.

I just went to the local Toyota place and found a 2002 TRD SR5 V6 fully loaded Xtra cab with power everything. I'm excited for my test drive tomorrow!

Just remember to drive safely, I wish you luck with that!

I think it just might work out. I'm excited to hopefully finally be with the cool 4wd guys here.

Now that is scary to see! Thank God you did not have a passenger and that it didn't come in your side, really.

Good luck on your next search, you're going to love having a 4x4. Completely different truck and something higher up may not be such a bad thing either.

Good luck! Always loved the last years of the first gen's body style. I am sure it will treat you well and having a 4x4 just seems essential with a pickup truck in my book.

Crikey! Yeah good thing. That's where my guitar and amp typically go when I'm off to band practice.

I'm gonna be paying extra attention to Chevy drivers from now on. Ha!

I went and test drove that Tacoma at the Toyota Dealership. They were in a rush to prepare it for me, so the seats were still wet from the cleaning.

The battery was completely dead and we had to jump start it. The clutch felt fine and the engine was strong (Something new to me, coming from a 4 pot). But... when we braked it pulled to left harder than a libertarian. The check engine light also came on.

We immediately took it back and had some words. The guy assured me that the check engine light was probably from the water from the cleaning they did, and they'd have everything fixed by tomorrow for a test drive. We'll be back tomorrow.

It was very nice otherwise. It seemed to have a one inch body lift (ew) and maybe a flipped leaf in the rear. It even had the electronic diff locker! I hope they get that stuff fixed.

A check engine light from the detail? That's stupid.
I feel like they reset it hoping you wouldn't drive enough to make the truck complete the emissions test loop.

I hope not. We drove it for probably a half mile before it came on. If it doesn't come back on tonight after at least an hour test drive, I think we're good.

I'm just hoping. I doubt a Taco as nice as this will come through town again any time soon.

Well, we drove that 2002 TRD SR5 XtraCab at the Dealership again today. They left the old battery in it (4 years old) but it started fine. We found a crack in the windshield. We also looked and saw that it had a 3 inch block lift in the rear (stock shocks still, I believe) with skyjacker coilovers in the front. There was a buzzing/whirring noise coming from the rear. What could that be? Sounded like something spinning and increases with higher speed.

Also, the shocks in the back were gone and we don't want to spend money on a truck then have to replace the shocks.

We took it back to them and said we weren't buying it, but may come back if we can't find anything better. It had EVERYTHING I wanted in a Taco, and there isn't another one around here like it. I'm torn...

Eek, a 3" block lift? That could be responsible for the driveline noise you hear.

Sounds like this one is going to need some work, and I would hesitate on this one. I think you are making the right choice to look for something a little better before diving into a money pit.
