I may have messed up guys. I was replacing the high pressure hose that runs from the compressor to the evaporator on my 2010 Tacoma v6, I had it all done and everything and I was putting the bolt back on on the compressor side, and I just can get it to thread. It feels stripped. Not sure if I did or what happened I just can't get it tight at all. My question for you guys is, do you think I should buy a new compressor or should I try to rethread the housing? Is it worth trying to re thread it?

If it really is stripped. Clean it. Get a correct stud that matches the bolt. JB Weld the stud in. Add the correct nut and tighten her up. Make sure and let the JB set up before you start wrenching.

OP, the evaporator is located under the dash and the hose leading out to the compressor is actually the low pressure line, being the larger diameter of the two hoses, is that the one you mean? If so it does not see the real high psi as the other. If it were mine I would no have any problem trying a threaded insert fix. Have you done any inserts before?

Take a close look at the compressor oil if you can. If you see any debris in it that hints at a problem coming your way soon. A lot of miles in addition would make the decision to replace the compress any easy one for me.

Just an FYI, Rock Auto often has some decent prices. If you want the original equipment compressor the OEM is actually a Delphi (General Motors) but the Denso/Denso Aftermarket is in reality the Delphi with a different label stuck on. Not sure about the others but an ACDelco would also be a good possibility of being the OE Delphi with its sticker replaced.

If you go the compressor replacement route be aware that they come with a full oil charge for the entire AC system and you will need to do an oil balance least you blow the system by adding too much. If you get that far PM me and I will explain how.
