Truck only has 74k and yesterday my compressor locked up when i tried to turn on the air making an awesome screeching noise from the belt. Anybody else have this kind of problem? Im gonna be taking it in for the frame recall and like 4 other open recalls and ill probably have them take care of that too while its there. Hopefully my baby is gonna get a few more new parts $$$

A/C compressor will probibley cost a fortune to have the dealer do. If it's locked up and want to save some cash get a replacement, install, borrow or rent a vacuum pump and pump it down. Refll with 134a and should be all set after checking pressures. Good luck whatever you decide.

Yeah just checked the price at my work. Employee price is around 200 for the compressor and 500 for the clutch..thats not including a condensor which ill most likely need. Looks like its time for surgery.

Does the new compressor not have a clutch already installed?

I guess not, the parts guy at my work said they come seperately but an aftermarket compressor with clutch is about 250 but in my opinion id rather put oem parts back in.

probably too late but 9 times out of 10 all you need to do is the clutch, long as the little 8mm bolt isn't seized on the front. saves you from a compressor and evac/recharge
