About 4 days ago my truck's A/C compressor clutch/pulley started squealing but only when the A/C is OFF and the engine is running.

When I turn the A/C on the squealing nearly disappears completely.

The A/C blows strong and cold and the dash A/C light does not flash nor turn off by itself. The system does not have any leaks either. Runs just fine otherwise.

Do any A/C pros on here think I can get away with just replacing the clutch/pulley rather than the entire condenser?

    2016 SR5 with 100K miles.

I would just replace the clutch and pulley. If it’s the compressor (I doubt) you’ll want to replace them anyways

That's great to hear...someone who's recently had to do car A/C work told me some shops will only do the full compressor + clutch + pulley etc.

Seems very expensive and kind of overkill if the compressor is fine.

    Thanks for the input!
