And if you believe that black paint is any sort of corrosion prevention, bless your heart.

I'm atheist. I know that paint is common and effective way to prevent rust. It is a known fact. Corrosion/rust starts if paint is damaged, like on my hitch.

Every Tacoma's frame and rear differential is painted black. With time about all of them show surface corrosion. Whether or not it affects a thing is another story.

Condensate water tends to be a bit more acidic then "normal" water. Thus it could attack any steel it comes in contact with. This is why condensate lines should be copper instead of steel.

Lol! Paint is an absolute protective barrier between the metal and the oxygen that will react with it and produce iron oxide (aka "rust").

BTW, oxygen (in the presence of moisture) is what causes rust.

I have no issues with your mods/accessorizing. Just don't make statements like "untreated" metal and other common statements associated with enlarging the downspout.

I hope you are aware of the temperature of the exhaust. That frame part is 6" or so from the exhaust. That wet frame will dry out in minutes. We already know that water is shedding and not pooling on the top of the frame.

It’s similar to the rot you see under planters on a wood deck. It happens there much sooner than any open areas because it’s wet on a daily basis instead of only when it rains. We have neither salted roads nor hot/humid summers and no rain for several months in a row and locally less need for AC so the volume and frequency are much lower. In contrast the rust belt combines the worst culprits into a year round attack on the frame. Since the defroster uses the AC to dry the air it also deposits liquid water there when it’s cold as well as when it’s hot. For a long time now the used automotive trade has trended to motors & mechanicals to the west and body parts to the east. Not exclusively but as a trend.

It’s in the process of drying that rust forms. The OEM frame treatment is adequate for some areas of the country but not nearly all. As with many other things the engineering isn’t sufficient to deal with every circumstance, only those Toyota feels obliged to address to a given level. Many cry about what they should have done which is okay to start with but after that I prefer to deal with the issue and move on.

Pointless mod. Saying it's as pointless as the diff breather mod, that's a completely different scenario which does have a purpose.

Lol... y'all have invested more time, thought, and energy in debating the mod, than what the mod actually takes. It's some hose and some zip ties...

Correct. Heat helps with evaporation, but it also increases the rate of corrosion. I don't believe the 5 minutes along with the free materials I had hanging out in my garage will save my Tacoma's frame. I just occasionally enjoy riling folks up on the internet. Now if I'm installing Raptor lights, then I'm definitely in the wrong!

But the frame is covered by paint. Paint seals ferrous material from oxygen. No rust.

Once water formed by condensation that mix's with air, yeah, it becomes acidic to some degree, but I don't believe its any worse than rain water. Water formed by condensation is pure water.
