Hello, i just bought a 2016 Tacoma Offroad 4x4, it had been in a front end crash. It is already fixed but the A/C control panel inside the cabin is off. The seat heaters and a/c controls dont work or even on. In the digital screen thats next to the odometer where the outside temperature is marked, it shows E degrees. Due to the crash the condenser was replaced. Could the issue be related to a wire circuit being open, or does the truck turn off the a/c controls due to not having refrigerant in the system. Fyi the refrigerant has not been loaded since the a/c needs to be on to do this.

With a multimeter I just checked the two fuzes shown in the picture, one 7.5 and 10amp. The 7.5 marks 6 amps, and the 10 marks amps while all other fuses mark 0.0 . From what i understand this means theres a open circuit there, but what now.

May I ask who you bought it from?

Individual, so you are on your own?

Dealer, so you can drop it back in their lap?

I bought it off an auction in copart, so i took on a risk when buying it, but i saved a ton of money. Thankfully no serious issues were found on the truck, other than freezing my a** off. So no dropping it off back or returning it lol.

Don't know if my experience with an '06 will shed any light on your problem, but I experienced a short in the A/C compressor's magnetic clutch. Of course, that popped a fuse, which took out the heater/AC controls and (if I remember correctly) the window controls. Replaced the blown fuses without knowing about the short - the next time the A/C compressor tried to kick on, the fuses blew again. The more interesting aspect of this was that the ECU determined there was no need to charge the battery. Which resulted in my truck running solely off the battery - which, at freeway speeds, became a REAL problem as eventually the fastest it would go was about 30-40 MPH and ran like crap. Of course I was about 400 miles from my dealer when all of this happened. Thanks to a very stubborn tech at my dealer and 2 days of troubleshooting he finally discovered that the NEW A/C clutch that was recently installed was bad.

How's this relate to your problem? I have no idea, but it may help shed some light on how interrelated the electronics have become.

I'm thinking since your outside air temp isn't working I'd check the ambient air temp sensor (it looks like a small black probe with 2 wires connected to it) and realated wiring, I don't know exactly where it is on a 3rd gen (maybe someone else here does) but they are generally mounted directly behind the grill on a radiator support or bumper support. I'm thinking that may solve both your issues since the A/C control uses it for temperature reference.

I have bought a few salvage cars at auction and I always tore the dash apart to check wiring.

The seat heater has a connection to the A/C amplifier.
The ambient Temp sensor is also connected to the A/C amplifier.
You'll need to get the A/C going to have those system/feature functional.

Thank you this is extremely helpful. Where would the A/c amplifier be ? Is it the white cable connecters in the fuse box ?

Just wondering what the resolution was? I have the exact same issue on my 2016 Tacoma Off-Road - the A/C control panel inside the cabin is off. The seat heaters and a/c controls dont work or even turn on. In the digital screen thats next to the odometer where the outside temperature is marked, it shows E degrees.
