I have a 2005 4.0L Tacama... Yesterday I was on about at 2.5 hour trip, and stoped for about 3 hours to visit my new born niece... When I returned to my truck and started it, it made a god awfel sound... Apparently the ac compressor has siezed... Truck runs fine as long as the ac is off and not set to defrost... I have 58k on this truck, is this a common issue with these trucks...???
    Thanks,

Not a common issue, but it does happen.

Unplug the connector on the compressor clutch so it won't kick on by accident and you can still blast the heater on the defrost setting if you need it, and get it to a shop with the proper equipment to fix it.

With a blown compressor, you are looking at a new condensor, accumulator/drier, and orifice tube as they can not be effectively flushed.
The shop should be able to flush the evaporator.
