Yep - fun few days. Brief background:
'18 TRD OR - normal crappy Toyota head unit.
I turn truck on; AC off, blower off, radio low, and on FM. Turn blower on, push AC button; Automatically puts into recirculate (Max AC is not selected). I turn the recirc off, as it's 6am and it isn't that hot out. A bit -10-20 seconds- later, my CD pops out. WTF. So, now I have to push it back in, and then go back to FM; only I can't because the radio is now locked up.

Reset radio via push-hold-curse method. Now ok, but still a nuisance. Anyone noted anything similar to this behavior? I'll be telling the useless dealer to note so they can deny anything is wrong in the near future....
    Appreciate any input.

■When the outside temperature exceeds 75°F (24°C) and the air conditioning
    system is on
●In order to reduce the air conditioning power consumption, the air conditioning
system may switch to recirculated air mode automatically. This may also
    reduce fuel consumption.
●Recirculated air mode is selected as a default mode when the engine switch
is in the “ON” position (vehicles without a smart key system) or IGNITION
ON mode (vehicles with a smart key system).

Don't know if the above two conditions are met in your case.

The radio unit is separate from the climate control. That is a different malfunction. Radio unit behavior indicative of overheating, but yet it isn't hot. Curious. Try cleaning the screen and making sure nothing is lodged in your eject button before dealer take down. Good luck!

Edit: Thanks for reminding me I have a CD player. Totally forgot.

Edit: Thanks for helping me discover there is no physical CD eject button. Booyah.

Yeah- I'm old. well, not really, but yeah. I have all of my 10 CDs. haha. Generally just have radio on anyway.

It was just odd that the radio spit it out at the time I kicked off the AC. Thanks for the info....

My headunit will spit the CD out if it's been in there for more than a week without me listening to it. But it doesn't eject the CD that regularly.

That is strange & must have been a reoccurring issue. I have had my CD pop out once but that's it. I think I might have bumped the screen with those small little factory knobs. I bought @Tacowiede knobs that are longer & keep my fingers more away from the screen.

Other option is to put all your music on one of these nano USB drives & plug into slot by the cigarette lighter. I've thought about getting a 2nd one to transfer music to & keep separate genre's on each that way I'm not scrolling through so many songs to find what I wanna hear! Just an idea...

I keep a burned CD in there, but rarely play it. Bluetooth all they way!

P.S. No issues with mine either, it was probably a good idea to let the Stealership know about it for future issues.

I found a CD about a year ago.. put it in the CD slot.. I think it is still in there.. why do people still have CD's? Will the 2021 taco come with an 8 track player?

This happened to me a few times in the morning when I get off shift at 6am. Five minutes into my drive, I turn the A/C on with the knob and 5 seconds later, my CD ejects and the headunit freezes up. I try to imitate it again and nothing happens. It's only on the first try where the truck has been sitting for a while.

Googled it and nothing really showed up. I thought it was related to the bluetooth connection that people been having trouble with but it wasn't. I aslo checked my connections in the rear because I have a front camera but nothing either.

I feel like it's weather related. It never happens any other time of the day.

I also like the USB drive. In fact, that's about all I listen to.

    Works great.

Stop listening to Teen Magazine's Top 10 CDs.

    I'd throw that out too.

(Probably a short circuit on the motor control board of the CD drive. It's probably always been borderline, and a bit of condensation pushes it right over that border.)

FAT32 USB sticks are limited to 32GiB though. No exFAT, no NTFS, no ext2/4...

Why can't the Entune head read music from the map data microSD card??

Why can't Entune read file systems invented in THIS millennium??

I don't have a problem with the Fat32 format. It works fine.

BTW, I "think" that Fat32 WAS invented in this millennium. Not that it matters.

What music is on the CD?

This may be why the Tacoma is rejecting it

Nope. It released as the default fs with Windows 98, but was optional on Win95.

32G limit. 4G file size limit.

32G isn't even half big enough for us.

FAT filesystem's only plus is that it's simple to read and requires very little memory. Even the microcontroller in a microwave oven can be programmed to read it.

Price out a replacement Entune head. $4,160... A fella could have a pretty good time in Vegas with all that.

32G is plenty big enough, and Fat32 works fine in the Entune.

@iNfectious yep - hard to replicate repeatedly, but I have had it happen 2-3 times in a drive. Anyway - I do use MP3/USB as well, but this is somewhat around principle. If I had to re-seat my headlight bulbs every 12th time I wanted to drive at night...

I'm not old enough for 8 track, but I guarantee it was more reliable than Entune! I want to go back to actual options on a vehicle! Radio/GPS delete. Radar, delete. steel wheels, and a manual in the damn long bed.... Ok enough grumbling for one morning...
